The 240 St was standard in the Optima Mid & a few others. around a 19X1. Locked endbell. No bearings.
The 240S is a 19t as well but the better can with bearings and adj timing.
Trinity used this motor in their early days. I can't compare it too the Monster Horsepower. As there was lots of different winds.

Thanks for the info! Nice to know I have the original motor for my optima mid.

I think the 240ST was a 'token' addition to some of the Kyosho kits back then. Obviously a mod class wind with no bearings and no adjustable timing the motor was a nice inclusion but wouldn't have been competitive against many of the mod motors of the day.

100% true! But for the backyard basher they certainly felt special compared to the usual 540

I remember my 7celled mid custom with its 240ST went like stink when I was a kid
Nice marketing from Kyosho

I love those blue and green ones. A friend sold me a 480T about 24 years ago, which I had in my Wild One! Would love another one, for nostalgia.
Top of my list would be an M.G. Brown Dot, I imagine NOBODY has one of those

The best standard motor you could get, back in the day.
Good times
Oh, and I remember the 240ST went really well in my Mid, not bad for a standard motor.

well that's because it wasn't really a standard mill at all, the winding was indeed 1/3rd more agressive than a 27T stocker

It was a closed can with a warm mod wind in there
talking about old Kyoshos, I just rebuilt a 240S and 360Gold last week (thanks william!), full full full teardown, cleanup (mechanical & chemical), lathe, the works. Both were machine-wound as I discovered (I thought the 240S was handwound

) and well let's say the winding was of rather poor quality as both have loose winds at least in one place
Then again who cares when they're closed and loo so fantastic mounted on a shelf-staying chassis

Sorry, I thought closed cans/unballraced were classed as 'standard'
What did you do about the stickers on those motor rebuilds? were they in good condition??

There had been not a single handwound motor from Kyosho. But that´s not keeping some of them for looking very nice.

They weren't the best around but at the time i was paying around $80 for a good Le Mans.
My Twister for the state titles was $120.00. My CX1 ESC was $370. My Checkpoint Silver motor was $120. The Platinum was $160.
We paid stupid prices here in Australia.

we also paid huge amounts of money here in spain in those years, now prices are more reasonable, not as cheap as in USA, but affordable.
as sample, in 1990 , I paid around 200 usd for my lazer zx bougth by mail from "Tower" in USA, it's price tag here in spain was about 600 usd , both without motor or esc, so even paying customs tax it was a great deal to buy abroad.
then there was not internet, but international fax orders was the trend between us racers (now collectors

)
