I'm thinking the same thing. B4 parts are plentiful and Mid Spurs and clutchpacks are getting expensive and rare. I'd totally buy one.

What's the major difference from the reg mid to the turbo I picked one up and all the chassis screws were countersunk does that make it a turbo version?

Ok Thanks, mine had dogbones up front universal axles in the rear, set of adjustable turnbuckle for rear only. I guess it might be the Turbo.

If the chassis is anodized (brown-ish) and the shock towers are made of dark fiber material (see pic below) then it's probably a Turbo Optima Mid. Also check the material and form of the Rear Plate (L) because that part differs between all three SWB models.

I got my LWB belt in and have started getting the car back together. I was wondering how to go about covering up the B4 slipper when the thought crossed about using a B4 gear cover. I checked the fit and realized only one new hole needed to be drilled. The cover works perfect. I won't how it will interfere with the body until I get my new body in. I hope it works out becuase it looks like it belongs on the transmission.
This is an RPM cover but I am sure the standard B4 cover will work just as well.

I've had one of these cars for over 20 years and never thought of that, thanks Jake!
It looks like he mounted the cover through the bottom screw and trace drilled the upper one.

Yes that is exactly how it was done. The use the existing bottom hole then redrill a new top hole. I am definately happy with this cover and how it fits. Let's hope it doesn't interfere with the body too much. If it does, I may change it.

Well I ran into a slight problem with the gear cover. It is too large to allow the shocks to mount in the front of the rear shock tower as in the manual. This isn't going to be that big of a deal because my arms will allow the rear shocks to be mounted on the back side of the shock tower providing enough room for travel. It will be a week before i can get pictures of exactly what I am talking about.

You can also attach the lower shock eye to the rear uprights.

will the shaft you are making fit the one for lazer ZX? hope it does coz i have one in need of a new slipper, and arms, those arms looks sexy....... surely this thread will spark it...

I just finished up the drawings for the arms I plan to use. I used some vintage Lazer ZX arms (Thanks to Aaron) and took the basic measurements from them to create these. I may change the fronts but overall I am happy with how they will turn out. Hopefully I can get to the machine shop to run them in the next two weeks. I will probably run extra sets of these too
