That is the stock Maxxum body. It is basically a "fatter" Turbo/ Ultima Pro body.

Go figure, I Googled all versions of Ultima & Optima, but not the glaringly obvious.
I wonder how that would look on an Optima chassis with a full-size wing? Aside from the more central mounting location for the shocks, it looks like it would otherwise fit.

Very nice Jason. I'm working on 3 of those myself. On the one that I'll be keeping for myself, I decided to make it a "turbo maxxum". So it has all of the goodies that Kyosho adds to their "turbo" versions.

I have one of these on the way. A friend of mine found it in his attic and isn't into the hobby. We worked out a nice deal (along with a Tamiya Monster Beetle). It should be here in a week or two, hopefully! I don't think it's as solid and together as yours though...

I've got 2, one in the box, part built, some parts still in the packets, and one that i've been running with lipo, 19t brushed motor, when i got it someone already hacked it up, it's running buggy rear wheels on the front, and 4wd fronts on the back at the moment, i think it might also have lazer front hubs and uprights, however i keep having problems with it spitting out the front driveshafts, still good fun to drive though!

Hey Jason,
How does the battery attach to the car? Do you use the stock battery straps?...or something else.

Roger

Hi Roger. At the moment the battery sits on a couple of pieces of plastic and is only held in with pressure between those and the top plate. At some stage I'll work on a way to get it held in more securely.

Thanks Jason,
I'm thinking about making a new chassis for mine, but I'm not sure what shape to use. It'll probably be similar to your' since I'll be using the stock body.
I was going to mount the battery holders from the optima on the chassis (like on the optima hot trick kit) but the shape will limit the type of battery being used...plus, I'm not all that crazy about using the zip ties.
Regards,
Roger
