Jay Dub wrote:That looks to me thta it might be a new molded chassis. As far as the slipper cover, I can understand it. I have recently found that my V2 slipper can become very inconsistnt because of heat. The biggest problem is the glazing of the slipper plates (yes the aluminum pieces), and consiquently the pads . I have found that i have to replace them more often than I like in order to keep them consistent through an entire run. I have converted to the "High Torque" pads and vented plates, and this helps. But they still need to checked regularly. -Jeff
Nope, thats a chopped and glued chassis, I'm sure of that. And as far as the slipper goes, many of us are running the slipper setup from a sc10 4x4 and I believe avid also just came out with one that is much more intuitive.

wow Reg, it feels like I've been out of the loop for ages. Great job on the buggy...you should paint more often too :D Cool to see some modern chassis mods.

Go kick some arse with that thing!

that gear cover looks awfully similar to a Proline B4 gear cover set up I spied at the HRH Shootout (along with gear and slipper parts), I just couldnt get that close.

Had to make a new cutting tool for the job

Cut the bulkheads, then worked on the edges-

It's a combination of things. The motors are much better, but so are the batteries and tires. Add to that the track surface and it's like running on concrete with a ton of power and very little wheel spin. There has to be give somewhere. In the old days the tires would just throw dirt from the fluffy track surface and all was good. Now it's wheelies on demand.
On a side note; the gear cover venting is not new. That's been a fairly common mod for a year or more.

Thanks for the explanations. With great power come great responsibilites and vented slipper covers

Thanks for making me feel out of touch (which I actually am, to be honest) My skills only allow me to run mild mods (think 8.5's and such) hence I've never felt the need to vent my V2 cover but I'll keep an eye on temps from now on :) Useful! thank you :)

And we run locked slippers since we normally have so much traction- going to be an adjustment utilizing the slipper for me-

That is cool! Isn't this basically leaning towards what the 22 is already?

Cheers guys! This was built way before the 22

On the shelf now as mid motor is the thing in the Uk as we race on high grip AstroTurf and carpet etc

Had technical drawings done but as it has machined kick up was going to be too expensive to make, was good fun project though
