How long before Traxxas brings one out? They sponsor buggies as well as trucks (bikes too, I guess)...most other things they sponsor get an RC version, so maybe we will have more choices going forward.

I'll stick with my Losi SCB.

X2...Oh, come on Associated.. really?

It'd be cool if it was an original idea but...I sure miss the old days.

Where's the re-re classic RC10 that everyone wants?

It looks like a clone of the Kyosho & Losi & Axial & ....

Maybe you can copy the Traxxas funny car next too?[/quote]

+1 ... I think they ran out of ideas years ago.

Well - its okay, but I'm not drooling over it personally. Funny, I really WANT to like SC trucks but I just can't get into the way they look. This SCB is a bit better but am I the only one that thinks it needs a rear wing? If it had a wing, then I guess it would be a bit more interesting.

I would have to agree. I think some cars look fine without a wing, but the Losi SCB and this AE look goofy, like their butts are hanging out over their belts or something. The 1:9 scale Ultima DB at least has a little wing...it's not really my thing but it's a better-looking buggy, IMHO...I'm even trying to say that without any Kyosho bias and I think most would agree. 8)

reading up on that clone..it is an exact copy, k car parts bolt right on, no issues.

In november there is a local "short course nationals" sponsored by Losi, they are promoting an SCB only class, and I plan on running in it with my Losi SCB. I hope these are out in time so I can beat up on some.

I feel the same way. i did drive a friends SC10 FT and it was kinda fun, but i can't quite pull the trigger to get one. and the 4x4 is cool too, but again, I am more a buggy fan.

I like the styling of this over the losi, but agree a cool wing is needed.

Though not the same class, thoughts on the Axial ExoTerra? I want to get one of those for bashing. I think it looks the most realistic of them all. I too would put the styling of the Kyosho over AE and the Losi. The losi does look a bit exaggerated in the rear.

A buddy of mine showed up at the track with one of the clones... Not worth it IMO. The plastic shocks on it suck, even after you swap out the motor oil they were filled with with silicone. Springs on it were heavy enough to use on a Ford Pinto. They are VERY breakage prone as well. Same moulds as Kyosho, different plastic. Electronics weren't worth a crap either. He stripped the servo out on the first run. You would be better off spending a little more and getting one of the Kyo, Asso, or Losi buggies.

I reckon it needs a Protech wire-mounted wing on it! 8)

There's no question that there are 'different strokes for different folks' and my feeling is that we're blessed to have another emerging class that looks realistic (I know, to a point), looks different and probably won't be winning a national championship!

Let's face it; the majority of us paticipation in the hobby/sport have less than world championship skills BUT that should NOT preclude us from participating. The 2 wheel buggy prospers in my area but after many years in the hobby, I still hate them for their finicky set ups and quirky handling even when properly set up. I have been and will continue to be a fan of ANY class that looks (even sorta') realistic!!! Short Course trucks??? You betcha' - and both 2 & 4 wheel drive to boot!

I've had a Losi XXX-scb since the first day they were available for purchase - it just simply 'had my name on it' for a lot of reasons - primarily that it looks 'real'.... I've been to at least one Short Course Showdown event every year Scotty has promoted them; year 2 I was a bit grumpy that the class was 'restricted' but THIS year it wasn't and OMG was it fun to race at the event in Omaha! The winner (Mike Garrison) and his dad Greg purchased buggies at the track and raced them STOCK - as they came out of the box. Mike was unstoppable all weekend; Greg close to that. BUT, the common denominator to EVERY race was the silly grins on everone's face as they came off of the driver stand. Never heard one grumble that they needed to go up to '32.5 as opposed to 30 wt shock oil) or anything as technically advanced as that!

For one, I welcome Associated to the party, may even try one of their buggies although my XXX-SCB is usually very well behaved and a pleasure to drive.

I believe that this will be a catalist for viable numbers of to compete both on a local level and a national level. There doesn't need to be a 'national championship' for these in my opinion; just a lot of fun racing!

I doubt that ANYONE can say that they don't look cool on the track!

I'd be tempted to get one once someone comes out with a narrow front tire/wheel combo for it. That action photo does look cool!

i do like the narrow fronts that come stock on it...will be looking into some of those soon as people start parting them out on eVilBay.
