Yes those are very interesting parts, at least for me .

That chassis look awfully similar to JJ's.

It is possible you have the real deal right there.

Upon closer inspection. The battery box slots look like those on Ron Rosettis car but the battery strap looks like JJ.

Curious indeed.

I have new photos taken and would have posted them already but the site was down. I will get some out there tonight for everyone to see some of this a little closer.

I did contact the seller that I purchased the car from this past Monday to see if he has some information on where the car came from. He said that he had had it for 3 years but sold it as he had never done anything with it and that he "thought" he had bought it at a local thrift store here in town. Colorado Springs, Colorado. Things do travel quick these days with the internet sales that take place so it could be from anywhere and this didnt help much. The overall thought of this being a donated item at a thrift store boggles the mind a bit though.

Hi Guys,
After looking at this with a coworker of mine, we're convinced this was not produced by us or a team driver. We would not allow our drivers to run litespeed motor plates. Pops was always on us about only using Losi products unless we had a partnership (Trinity, MIP, Lunsford). Just doesn't look like something Jon Anderson or Gil Jr. would have let out of the shop.

Now I should also add that over my years at Losi that we were constantly developing future products and while you guys got to race them, enjoy them, find issues with them, we were already working on the next thing 1 to 2 years down the road so a lot of times I can't recall everything we did, so you guys might be able to prove us wrong on this car.

Man I wish I had kept a diary :)

Just our opinion,

Rich

Hi Rich, Thanks for looking the shots over and giving us your thoughts on the car. Mark

Richard: Do You or Your colleagues know how many of these/those "Proformance Kit prototype cars" were made? Only for top factory drivers (maybe to ten drivers?) or more widely eg all over US and maybe to some other important regions?

The motor plate could have been added after. Just like the XX front end.

Clearly not a factory car aside from the chassis.

Good Point - Race cars big and small change between and sometimes during every race.

If this car had the correct front end as it is suspected it would have raced what would that look like?

Who are the suspected 10 drivers that could have owned this car and are they available to let them have a look at this car on the board here?

Does this appear to be the correct body for a car like this? I found TBG's reproduction on the internet and they say in their ad that its an Aftermarket Losi body.

At some point the rear of the body has been trimmed away. Its not a clean job so I am assuming after some crash damage it was amputated. Perhaps when that truck tires were added and it was "played with" rather than raced.

ya, i was gonna say that this morning. you can't go by a part that can be swapped out in a few minutes. we're talking a 20+ year old car here. it's obvious it's been messed with throughout it's life.

if it's not, it's not. i just think you have to look past the parts that are on it right now.

Magazines covered spy shots of Jacks car, so it could have been replicated by "Joe schmo" but the absence of battery box holes is interesting--

Take it apart and let's see the parts that hold it together....

Back then they were a very tight group. If anyone had them it would be the following:
Gil Jr
Jack Johnson
Kyle Reed
Gary Kyes
Jon Anderson
Jay Halsey
Ron Rossetti
Mike Tuntakit
Bryan Peterson
Mike Dunn
Steve Dunn
Joel Johnson

and maybe a couple more (international drivers?).

This would have been just before i started working for Losi...back when I raced for Associated LOL

This again would be my best guess for a list of who had cars

regardless of origin of this car, I would be proud to have it in my fleet. super unique and looks well executed.
