It was close, but time caught up with me. So; no body yet, and the geardiffs are still in place both front and rear.
There's some more things to do, but at least I got it as far that I could actually give it a spin to see how slow it is
Enough said: here's the pics you're all waiting for:

- Yes, it does run upside-down too. Yes, I tried it :)

- The beast in full glory.

Interesting... it looks like the USA-1 electric truck they should have built.
As for gearing, if I recall correctly, a stock Clod Buster axle is a 30:1 reduction, so I think you're in the ballpark.

What did you use to adapt the Clod wheels to the 12mm hexes?
I've been thinking about adding Clod wheels to my Monster Beetle project via re-re Frog rear hubs and Slash fronts..
Aren't the Clod wheels 14mm?

Cool Project Erik! Glad to see you tinkering again. One of my favorite project cars form BITD was a project Mauri Big Bear, that RCCA did. In the article, they beefed up the big bear/CJ7 chassis with some brass square stock, and put dynamite spiked clod tires on it. They topped it off with a Mauri CJ7 body. The action shots showed the truck at seemingly incredible speed, and moreover, seemingly incredible fun

. Wish I could find a scan of it

, my text doesn't do the pictures ANY justice.

Yep, the wheel hex for the clod adapter is 14mm. I am curious to see how you bolted them big wheels on there too.
Looks really cool. So how did it drive?

? I never stopped tinkering ... been running a little more though: much to my own content.

With all the running I've done more work on runners rather than start new builds, that's true.
Yes, an electrified nitro USA-1: that's kind of how it looks to me too, or one of the monster truggies build on 1/8 buggy chassis.
Unfortunately, it still uses the more fragile components of 1/10 buggies and I'll have to compensate for that with low speed, very, very, low speed.
Running in our tiny living room and kitchen: slow, slipping wheels, and far too little turning (need to look up how to switch the reverse back on on the ESC).
Rather noisy and very little roll-out.
There's definitely going to be an mk2 of this one: I'm thinking the clod tires and wheels may have to go and get replaced with some crawler or SC ones. (I'm going to take it to the club sometime and ask to borrow a set first to try). The reason is simple: they are so big and heavy they put too much strain on the drive and suspension components.
I actually already tried to put the tires of the green truck on (previous page). But when I pulled them of the 2WD front wheels they just tore at the bead
Another thing I may change is the wheelbase: a shorter dogbone on the front would let me move the ultima transmisson almost against the steering set up. That should sort the maneuverability out.
Clod wheel adapters to 12mm hexes: just an old set of touring car wheels I cut up and a special nut. I'll take pictures when I take them off next time.
14mm hexes? not for a clodbuster wheel, e-maxx yes.

Yeah, You are right. What was I thinking 14mm hex for.
