Just added in the History section some new information. All info gathered during an interview with Gil Jr last October during the iHobby show.

Some of you will probably find at least one thing new to you.

A lot of good information: early days, RC10 with 5-link in 1984, XX-proto info, XX4 proto with rear gearbox. Would be nice to know who are these "undisclosed groups". Thank You for letting all us to know about this.

Yes I have to admit some wording was made a little more polite on how they first got into the kit business.

Can't believe the bit about the Duratrax Evader, what a bunch of c*nts! I thought Losi had 'sold' their design of the car, not them ripping it off

For now that is it, that was a short 15 minute interview with him. I am hoping to get some more time with him later as well as some old photos.

I know that was probably one of the more shocking things to find out. I too thought a deal had been made.

I just realized one thing I forgot to ad about the XX development. It was designed at the start to have adjustable kick by changing out the front brace. But they decided against later in development. Something about type of tracks at the time and geometry changes to the suspension and steering killed it.

The comment about the JRX-Pro with the prototype XX front end being one of the best handling buggies of all time is quite believable. Look at the videos from the 91 IFMAR world's. I know Masami won it but if you watch Kyle Reed's car, it clearly handled the bumps better than the Stealth cars. He could catch Masami pretty easily. The problem was that his driving wasn't as consistent and that's what cost him.

Wasn't that also because of the hydra drive? That helped smooth out the bumps when on the throttle.

I'm sure that helped a bit. One thing I noticed about the old Losi setups from back then is that they ran less shock pack than others in the rear. That certainly helped through those bumps as well. I see people today running too much pack and they hit a bumpy section and the rear end goes flying. I think Jack Johnson and Gil Losi Jr were just really really good designers and tuners.

Those are interesting. Next time I talk to Gil I will have to ask about those. Put that on my list of questions.

Just added a new feature to the Parts Compatibility page. When you search on a part number it will now tell you what it is compatible with and give you an option to search for it on Oldrc.com or eBay. Also if you search by model it will give you all the compatible parts and search options next to each one.

mytimac - Very nice website! I had to check out the JRx-Pro SE page and have one comment on the list of features for the model.

I believe the Jrx-Pro SE kit I bought did not come with the Hydra-Drive (wasn't ready by the time they made the kit). I'm pretty sure I recall buying the Hydra-Drive as an add-on kit later. I might still have all the instructions and parts to back that up.

Very cool site. Thanks for putting it all together!

PS - Let me know if you need the Hydra-Drive instruction sheet I might be able to scan it and send it over.

Oh geez you are right. I thought for sure it didnt say that on that page. Should just say slipper disk system. Thanks for letting me know. I see the LXT has the same thing. Have to go in and correct both of them.
