It's one thing when the box-art is just one color and a bunch of decals, but something like this, when you know how much time and effort has to go in to even coming close... wow. Looks fantastic.

The cleanliness of that chassis is intimidating to someone who's just starting an Optima restoration, too. Good thing I'm not going for shelf-queen perfection.

Really amazing looking and very very well masked How many hours/days did it took to do this body? But add the black line to bottom of the sidepods. This line is missing from almost all box art paint jobs.

That's gorgeous work there, Jason. I suspect the original car for the box art used pinstripe tape instead of all paint, so your achievement is all the more incredible. I'd never attempt that myself, I get annoyed and frustrated to hell with paint bleed and overspray on far simpler paint schemes. This is one of the best I've seen, I think you did Kyosho proud. :)

Truly magnificent, Jason! Like Marc said, I doubt I'd have the patience for that paint scheme. I do love Optimas of all kinds but the original is the best in my humble opinion.

Yeah even though it aint perfect it was a real butt load of work getting the shell painted to this standard. I was sick of not having a good box art scheme to sit on this new chassis so it was well worth the effort.
Perhaps I'll buy an air brush one of these days and do it all over again.

Airbrush or no, you still have to deal with the masking job, and that's the worst part of the job. :? Spraying paint is the easy part.

That'll be the one. I figured that with so many parts being so hard to find and not cheap if/when you do find them, it'd just be more convenient to buy the NIB kit. That convenience however doesn't come cheap. It will be a shelfer and not driven.

Heh, 100th post, yay me
