You got me? Not a CZZ for sure, but the diameter, depth and dish are exact to the CVR head, so I say "SCORE" because the blue looks so much cooler and less weight to boot! Both blue heads are OS and they are a different design but fit the same!

The engine you started with is a CV-X, not a CV-R.

The blue head with 4 scallops is a CV-R head; the one you installed is a for a .12 CV Hyper, P/N: 72001110

No, the engine I rebuilt was a non pull start red head CV from an old Losi truck. I always knew the "X" in O.S. to mean pull start!

You are correct about the x standing for pull start. I think what he meant was that it is a cv, not a cv-r. You referred to it as a cv-r in you earlier post. Technically it is a cv(s). The (s) denotes a short shaft engine.

That head has the same look as the hyper head, but it an actual hyper head? Doesn't the hyper have a different combustion chamber and only come in gold?

Edit: I guess technically if you cut the shaft yourself it is just plain cv. The (s) would be factory cut. Details......

that blue head started off life gold on the OS hyper .12. For some reason or another after the hyper was discontinued these started showing up as blue, black, or original gold per piece in the LHS around me. I'm guessing that they just had an excess and knowing they were discontinuing the cv .12s they wanted to unload these. Anyone I know that cared about weight removed those blocks of aluminum right outta the box. Some turned them sideways so they worked correctly and some just ran them til they puked and got new ones and some used them as door chocks

Oh, I assumed you were working with the engine that came in the truck.

Not sure of the timeline, but this truck may have become a casualty of his unfortunate house fire.

Dammit. The fire. I forgot about the fire.

No it did not get burnt up but smells like smoke and is all black from soot and is rusty from the water. I tried to keep as many cars as I could from the fire but it all stinks, is sooty and rusty. I keep them all in sealed plastic bins in my detached garage. When I need a project I open a stinky bin and get to work. It's all quite overwhelming! I have been cleaning and restoring some RC10's, my TC3's and few 12 scale cars this past year. The trucks are at the bottom of the pile, but one day..... Maybe! :|
