I am restoring a parsec. I need two more of the small shock to complete it. I will post some pictures of it and some other reference pics I have.

Well, it showed up, and I've given it a bit of a cleanup. Too bad it takes metric, probably AYK specific, wheels... The servo saver is for the Novak NES1A.

Maybe Darryn or Mr. Cline can help? Seems that it's a very early version.
The motor is a Yokomo based Team Losi Performance Revolution that's had the endbell popped and bearings installed along with timed brushes. Someone was a cheater-face... Who was looking for this motor? Might be sweet in an RPS SE...

Sorry, too hard to find. I've seen that seller offer that servo in the past with a $50 bin... Don't be surprised if it's no good...

Stock motors (before the days of rebuildable stocks) had their endbell/brusholder/plastic-bit-where-the-wires-go crimped in place to prevent tampering with timing, armature spec, etc. "Popping" the endbell simply means the crimps were bent back so the endbell could be removed to get on with some tampering...like adding ball bearings, rewound armature, magic voodoo, and so forth. Timed brushes have a bit of material removed from the end that touches commutator in such a way that the motor's commutator timing is altered.

I thought this little guy looked sad with no wheels... so I managed to "fit" some 12L wheels just for looks. I'm just not super in love with this car for some reason... Maybe if Darryn would pop in with his bag of magic AYK parts...

Why don't you love it? It's very nice IMO, even though I'm a real noob about those 1/12th scale cars

It is nice, but it seems kind of "toyish". The "alloy" rear pod and front brace are actually silver plastic... I'm also not 100% convinced about the green top deck and battery straps being original or correct.

I might be a little more excited if I had better access to some literature and parts.

What was the purpose of the 12th scale cars? They all seem to have that chasis shape and the bodies styled the same.

1/12th scale on-road was the pioneer in electric rc car racing, just before everyone started racing tamiya srb buggies

In 1978 or so your choices for hobby grade RC cars were 1/12th electric or 1/8th gas, both on-road... 1/8th gas had been around since the early 1970's, but 1/12th electric didn't really get going until 1976-1977, even though there were 1/12th gas and electric cars before that (the Jerobee Commando, basically). One of the first real electric 1/12th electric racing cars was the Bolink Electric Car, followed by the RC12e, Leisure 100, Jomac Lightning...plus the Japanese had jumped in (Tamiya, Kyosho, AYK, etc.). I'm sure terry.sc and others could provide more detail on things like the Schumacher cars, etc.

There's plenty of history out there, but it's fairly scattered...
