Well, it's been 3 months, and I'm still lovin' these things! The handling is simply amazing, and the performance of the whole kit when you install a powerful motor or engine is phenomenal. At the local outdoor, I find it entertaining to wait on lapping other drivers until I can do it by leaving a jump
just behind them, flying
over and landing
in front of them!
Overall, durability has also been pretty good. I've only killed two rear hub carriers and one rear arm (one of the carriers and the rear arm at the same time, hit the stands), but the front arms have been very problematic on the nitro. Have yet to KO one on the e-truggy, but the nitro likes to nose up off jumps, and I tend to over-correct, thus landing in a nose dive. My fault, but I felt that the kit should be able to take those hits better, so I did something about it:
Was about 10 hours of mill work to shape the two 7075-T6 arms, but I don't think I'll have to worry about breaking them! .420" thick, weigh about 2.5 times what the stock arms did (1.7 oz vs. 4.2 oz), but the truggy actually balances better with the extra 5 onces at the snout, so hopefully it'll fly flatter. I am curious how the handling will change, going from very flexible polymer arms to extremely rigid aluminum.
Don't really plan on doing rears at this time, as it's a ton of work, and the rear arms haven't been problematic. But knowing me, I'll decide to do it down the road because 1) it looks nice and 2) I get bored easily, have to find things to occupy my time-the more constructive, the better.
