You should get a second set of rear wheels/tires, one more suited to general use.
The Rustler has potential. A Rustler with good electronics, STRC hinge pins, aluminum caster blocks, upgraded shocks, rear toe in, good tires, and some suspension tuning can be a fantastic all weather basher or even club racer. My Rustler is used all year round. It's fast and fun in all conditions, very durable, and wins races.

Ya, i found some street tires in a box. It works really well! The next upgrades I want to do are adding a slipper clutch and putting longer rear a arms on it.

What did you need washers for? If it was for gear alignment, you just need to flip the pinion around. The Titan is the standard motor in the XL-5 Bandit. Should be no need for washers to make it work.

The Bandit is a fun and durable buggy. I agree with the others that you should have fun with it. There's really no vintage value because the buggy is still being produced today. Go beat the snot out of it!!!!!


How did you get the body to fit with the esc mounted to the chassis? I had to remove the heat sinks on mine.

He needed washers to make the ridiculous motor shaft clear his gear cover.
I suggest removing the washers and cutting the shaft.

It shouldn't hit the gear cover either way. The Rustler/Stampede/Bandit/Slash all have the same trans and gear cover and all come standard with that same motor.

When the Titan 550 came out, Traxxas introduced a new gear cover to clear the motor shaft.

Maybe not up to everyone's likings but you got a clean looking bandit there so don't let anyones opinion slow down your postings .

you caught me! No it doesnt fit, but i didnt realize that until after I put it all together. I will just screw a lexan plate on behind the battery and mount it to that.

Thank you! And I am just happy everyone has an opinion to input.

What you should do is turn the battery around so the leads are towards the front of the car, then get an esc plate. That way you'll have somewhere to put the ESC and your lipo will be secured on both ends like it should be.

Ya, the way the battery sits in there is a little shady right now. The esc plate will probably be my next purchase.
