ya, but your heap is cool because it doesn't look like everybody else's heap
P.S. it is also ok to have more than one

Yeah, I know, I find it one of the harder techniques in airbrushing.

Makes me want to put my heap back in the closet from whence it came and buy a new one

Your heap is a lot more unique than mine though. It's cool from the inside out... not that the re-re RC10 isn't cool.

I think after taking a look at Brian's photos of Gene's cars I think my runner build will be... a surprise!
I got inspired to get the build going after a few PMs back and forth with Brian. I didn't get very far. I didn't want to use the nuts supplied. I'm going to be using mini nuts and aluminum shock bushings.
So far I've just trimmed the burs from the nylon parts and used mini nuts on the ball studs. I'm off to the shop tomorrow for some aluminum shock bushings and some more mini nuts. Then off to the auto store for some aluminum polish for polishing the pins and shock shafts. Hopefully I can make it past page two next time.
Not sure, but I see some JC steering arms are in order too?

Okay, so I'll leave the polishing for the restos.
So far I've used some gold associated mini nuts, longer ball studs on the C hubs from hell, and ball foamies.
I trimmed the inside of the hubs to allow free movement of the steering block. I also drilled out the hinge pin hole on the bottom so the pin moves freely through the hole. The hubs are a real disappointment, but everything moves freely now though.
Today, I bought bearings, FT aluminum shock bushings and chassis protector. While at the shop I got a JC front graphite shock tower ordered up along with Reedy brushless system. Emerson helped me out with a Lohas bumper (JG mfg style).
Vintage style Lunsford turnbuckles and JC bellcrank as on the list to get along with many other things I haven't thought about yet.

That is an original Curtis Husting paint job and Gene has the body

Continued to work on the runner build. The rear hubs were worse off than the front. I had to completely replace them with vintage hubs. At least the fronts just had to be trimmed... both front and rear had to be drilled to open the hinge pin holes.
Here's the difference in the inner diameter on the insides of the re-re and the original. Since the manuals are in inches, I'll use inches... metric is way better, unless you use 10ths of inches
The re-re ID is too large and the bearing is loose.
0.372" for the original
0.382" for the re-re
I installed s set of MIP CVDs, because we all know it's just a matter of time before a bone flys out and ya can't find it.
Tomorrow, shocks, and possibly dying the ball cups.

Thank you for measuring the size difference. I have so many shims on my rear axle stub and can't get the play out. I was thinking of getting an aluminum hub or using a vintage rear hub. Car look good so far!

if you can't find or can't wait to use the older rear hubs, take a soda can a make a shim cut with a pair of scissors. It's about .004" thick so wrapped around the bearing race will give a nice tight fit in the bad hubs.

Coming along nicely
What kV Reedy motor are you going to run?

I'm thinking about a 3900kV or 3300 kV 540 brushless motor will do just fine for me. I'm not a racer and won't be competitive so I'm not looking to fit into any class type.
