While I can appreciate nice work, I'm not a fan of these Trans Am recreations. They are based on the 5th gen F-body platform which was styled after the '69 Camaro which was a 1st gen car. Trans Ams were 2nd gen cars. No matter what they do with the grille, taillights, wheels, paint and fire chicken decals, the overall shape of the body is still completely wrong.

They look like cream puffs with wheels to me, and for the cost you can buy a real one.

69 was first year for trans am and thus a first gen platform.

True, and I stand corrected, but the Trans Ams that these custom shops almost always try to emulate are the '77-'78 2nd gens. It just doesn't work.

Watched the video, I thought it was really cool but then was like "wait a second, Pontiac??".

I'm in the market for a new car after totaling my 2003 BMW 540i 6spd rear-ending someone in November. I'll probably end up with another BMW because there aren't many options that scratch my itch other than what comes out of Bavaria, but a few of the American cars have me looking like the Camaro ZL1 and Mustang. I would like a Cadillac CTS-V but that's a bit too high for my budget.

What's more depressing is how hard it is to find something with good power, rear wheel drive, and a proper (3-pedals!) manual transmission.

Funny thing is I saw a T/A conversion in a magazine right before the new Camaro offically hit the street.

my 98. 70k miles.

basic mods. just put a warmed over t56 in it with an alum ls2 flywheel and the ls7 clutch. - and now i need to get an adjustable master cylinder to get it to shift....

also just put a full stainless exhaust in it. dynatech stainless longtubes and ypipe, with a magnaflow stainless catback. - and now i need urethane motor mounts to keep the ypipe from banging the floorboard...

last time i drove it out to the vintage nats the powersteering cooler decided to mix the power steering and coolant into both systems...

i love it, and i hate it.
