Yeah, Mikedealer is a bit responsible for it too

actually im soon heading out of acquisition mode and into build mode, unless its something exceptionally cheap/rare/good buy, not too much big spending. i actually own am bidding on 3 items right now, even though there are about 15 lots i would normally be bidding/watching

So this project changed slightly from the original as I am now using a new Hot Trick Dog Fighter/Wonder Dog Fighter chassis (thanks Woobie) as opposed to the lightly used RPS style Hot Trick chassis from before.

Here is most of the kit, showing lots of Hot Trick goodness.

These are the instrucions I am working from, which will soon be added to the scans section. Working round clockwise...at the very top is the Delta slipper clutch engineering drawing, yellow A3 Dog Fighter exploded picture/manual, RPS manual and blue leaflet is an extended RPS Dog Fighter era parts list...

First the gearbox parts are laid out for the build, some parts are new, some are to be restored. I have switched out the old plastic shafted gears for new RPS style metal axle versions. The Delta slipper can be seen ready for cleaning and assembly too.

Image

The diff. is cleaned and reassembled with a new diff. gear and Losi RPS SE hardened diff. halves.

Image

The Delta slipper is disassembled, cleaned and re-set-up with new grease.

Image

The gear box is filled with new bearings and the re-conditioned internals.

The gearbox is now screwed shut and on the outside the optional chain guide is installed.

Image

The first Hot trick part of the build is added the receiver and esc plate are attached to the gearbox.

The transmission assembly is now added to the chassis!

The next parts to be assembled are the two rear trailing arms and the Hot Trick swing arm plates. You can see I am also using the optional RPS SE stiffened rear arms and hardened rear axles as well.

Image

Here we can see all the parts full assembled...

Image

Later on I remember the rear Hot Trick rear spacer kit which is a nylon spacer installed between the outer bearing and the rear hub (in later pics)...

Next up is a new roll bar, new Associated gold screws and optional IFMAR dual rear shock mounts.

Image

Which when assembled allows the rear trailing arms to be fixed to the chassis...

Things really start to take shape with the addition of the rear bracket.

Image

Unfortunately I have only been able to find a gold one but in the end I think it looks quite nice...

I am using RC10 shocks on this build as the front mono shock is being replaced with a dual shock system and also it allows me to use these snazzy black alloy slimline retainers (thanks bscotti).

which assembled look like this...

...and that's where I am going to leave it now as that was also the end point of my first day of building. There will be the final parts of this build thread written up this afternoon, but until then. Enjoy! 8)

So the next day I wanted to put the rear shocks and sway bar on which meant taking off the rear arms

Image

I also installed the Hot Trick rear lowering kit to protect the chassis. I later learned the front part of this kit won't fit with the front suspension set-up I chose.
