orangeRx are only DSM2 - not original DSM (or DSM1 as I call it )

As far as I know there still aren't any dsm1 compatible options. I think at this point it's safe to assume that there never will be any. I am in the same exact boat as Adam Lancia, 3pk with dsm1 Spektrum. From what I have read, the dsm2 modules and receives that Hobbyking sells are compatible with the 3pk, and probably any futaba module based system with the same pin setup. They call them air systems, but apparently they're the same as land systems. I think I am going to order one soon. I'll post up when i get it and let y'all know how it works.

Please let us know...I know my DSM2 OrangeRX hack kit (supposed to be the same as the modules) is air only...not ground.

I ordered the OrangeRX Futaba module and the OrangeRX 3ch land receiver. I'll post up when I try them.

Let me know Justin, as I mentioned, the modules are supposed to be air, not ground

I got the module today. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but i skimmed through the manual, and in the very first paragraph it says for air only. So, that doesn't seem like a good sign. I'll play with it later and let you know how it goes.

Well it's a big fat no go for this module. I'm a little annoyed that the description wasn't a little clearer on the website, but I guess that's what you get for being so cheap. Lol... I will just return it.

Does anyone know if the FASST module is dsm2 or dsmx compatible? I am wondering if the receiver will work with a FASST module. It is supposedly supposed to be compatible with any dsm2 or dsmx system.

why not just buy Spektrum Air RXes to work with that module?
Plenty more choice than Ground/Marine

Two reasons. I was looking for a more affordable option than spektrum, and I am not a huge fan of the spektrum brand to begin with.

What makes you say the FASST won't work?

FAAST won't sync with Spektrum., that's a given.
Futaba is worse for making even more incompatible formats.

It's not just the frequency (they all run at similar slices of 2.4gHz) but the handshaking.
Spektrum Ground & Spektrum Air both use the same frequency slots
but they won't talk unless the radio accepts them.



If you want cheap then the yumcha Flysky GT3B/GT3C etc do the job nicely.
RXes are cheap and there's a few different OEMs for different handset colours.
Not a huge fan of their menu & TX feel myself though.


Right now I'm standardised on DSM2 as there's RXes available.
DX3S/3R/3Rpro do all that I need, suits my hands well & feel ok.

Do have a fleet of old KOs though, most of the EX1 Mars have Spektrum modules
but I gotta hoard all the SR3000/SR300 RXes for those.


Have been thinking of doing some TX hacking with yumcha 2.4 retrofit kits
but they all use their own RXes... not keen on introducing another system into fleet.



Ahh, remember the good ole daze when all we had to do to get RX & any TX talking was a correct pair of Xtals...

FYI, the older DX3S is NOT DSM2 compatible...ask me how I know
hint...it needs the little orange ground/marine/dsm2 sticker on the back
But I was able to pick up a DX2S for my son dirt cheap...and it works just fine with the OrangeRX receivers.
