Wow, everyone sounds like they are getting very cool gifts.
My girlfriend is keeping her gifts for me a secret even though I said I am not one for surprises. It's my Birthday over the festive period too so I hope to get a few things for my bmx I need

Guess I missed that one.
Well I got him the bike. I'll get the guitar for his birthday

I seriously hope I remember how to put brakes together... It's been a long time. I was too cheap to pay the assembly fee.

I just want to say its a darn good thing I can do these things since his dad ain't around.

from what i can remember, the last time i bought my kid a bike, the brakes were already mounted to the chassis, and the brake handles were attached the the handle bars. all i had to do was bolt the handlebars to the neck. and adjust them, of course.
i'm sure each manufacturer packages their stuff differently, though.................

I wouldn't worry mate, take the brakes off all together, that's what all the kids (here's my bike)

I used to use my foot up against the rear wheel and frame. Those were my brakes after my hand brakes went out. Musta rode all over like that for years.

I used to ride my bike with the foot to frame brake not because of no brakes, it was because they would never work that good no matter how much I adjusted them. (crappy dia compe
