gonna need some more tooling if you are intending to make that square drive center shaft on that lathe

I have a friend with a mill for the flats and square. I just have to make it round first lol

Thanks for the drawing gomachv I have foud that the Procat slipper assembly has the same layshaft but just uses a different slipper assembly. I now have the layshaft, slipper plates and nut all I need is the spring have you got the length and width of that so I can find one of them please

Sorry, my slipper did not have the proper spring, nut, bearing ect. They had made random parts fit, but they didn't fit well.

I would expect however that a stealth slipper spring should work fine- it's nice and short, and should be fairly easy to locate. Associated part number 6587. Don't use the locknut that comes with it though!

I've got a new Schumacher spring so if that works I haven't checked yet but would of thought so. How's the progress pal?

Still working on the lathe, not going very fast at all. If you can find a ready made one I would say go for it- I can't find anyone to machine it and I'm learning as I go

I just need to split it in half now. The shaft should begin this weekend- out of aluminum. Once I can mock it up, I will try it in steel. The cross drilling and flats will be the next big challenge, as I need to make fixtures. The schumacher slipper shaft will take a bit longer yet as it's more complex than the associated.

I've managed to source 2 bosscats both with slippers so that will keep me going till my nice shiny new one is made

Well...that took a while! Finally got my pulleys. Plastic for the center roller and two aluminum for the rear drives. Now I have to do some measuring and get them to fit between the plates. The end on the plastic will be cut off, and I may have to knock down the pulley flanges as well. These have a 3/16 bore so the slipper shaft will be easier. Bearings will ride on the pulley where the setscrews are, after they are turned down to 8mm
