I would of loved to of used an mip trans but nobody would sell me one.. Lol
The A&l came out in the late 80's which I know is a bit late, but hey you have to work with what you can get.

Unless you were going for Spektrum Orange, in which case, great job!!!!

I did think about keeping the orange and doing a new lexan rough rider shell and dying the wheels orange as well.. Then I thought, nah its easier to just re-dye the parts black..

RichieRich wrote:I really like this build. Is the body going to require any special trimming?
I just had to trim a bit more around the shock tower and cut out where the rear arms bolt on. The shell is now pretty weak in the back of the roof so I'll reinforce it with shoe goo and this special gauze like tape that I use on my on road cars.

highwayracer wrote:Looks great. I didn't realize that you can run stealth out drives on an A&L trans.
A&L have just released a version of the trans for the stealth out drives. It comes with spacers to center the diff and a spacer that fits on the male side of the diff for the bigger bearing. You end up with one A&L bearing and one stealth bearing inside the diff.

I ended up wiping the excess off once the diff was together.

They are JC racing RC 10 rims with 5x8 bearings for the front wheels.

Also, I extended the front axles with axle extenders for monster truck wheels from CRP. I then sleeved the original axles with brass tubing and the extra width is perfect.

j-sou wrote:I like it too! You're off to a good start. I've got no prob with mixing up parts for a cool build. The other night I started piecing together an srb base car with an SP1 trans.
You will have to post the pics of that soon. I love anything old srb!

I love it in all black but I also like the earlier yellow/orange parts version, equally lovely.

BTW, was the wheel base increase?? or follow the old SRB one? how about the width now front and rear??

The wheelbase is about 3mm longer than my rc10 in short wheelbase mode and the front end is a RCH half inch wider than stock tamiya front, with axles widened out another 10mm each side.
This is still narrower than a RC 10 worlds car, but looks great and still should handle well.
The rear is a few mm narrower than a RC 10 worlds as well.

Thanks everyone for the comments and approval.

Top stuff David. The orange looked pretty cool too.

Does it have any bump steer with the dual bellcrank setup?

Thanks :) Can you show some more detail how you widen the front end by that extra 1 cm on each side? That looks very trick but I simply could not figure it out... if you do not mind :) Thanks in advance.
