I would recommend a mild bleaching to get it back to the original shade of nylon. Fire made it much darker.

Some chassis discolorations can be gotten rid of by soaking in dishwashing liquid overnite.But you haft to do the hole thing completely under dishwater let soak 24hrs.IF NEEDS longer let soak again.when get desired results just wash really well let sit.wORKS REALLY WELLon those orange chassis it lightens them up.DON

Don, I'm going to try te dish washing liquid over night and see what happens to the chassis. Worse case scenario, the lacquer will make it come clean, but it just requires a lot of beer drinking and elbow grease.

The nylon parts and the shock tower are now off to the bleach bath.

This should do. While I wait, do I work on masking my B3 body or trim my B4 body...decisions decisions

First I've heard of a bleach bath, any dilution? Is this method safer to the plastic than the peroxide method? Same results?

To err on the side of caution I took the parts out of the bleach. I will use the Peroxide method, which I know works for sure. I don't want any fuzzy parts on this build, which can occur by bleach. I also hear that a soap bath in boiling water helps before the Peroxide bath.

Oh, and no dilution of the bleach was used.

Bleach works but you for sure must dilute, and baby sit. Do not ever bleach servo savers. Peroxide needs sun for results! No sun in Calgary for a few days!

12 hours of the chassis submerged in Sunlight dish soap...back in for another 12hrs. In real life, the chassis looks really good, with exception of only when you find that right angle where the staining can be seen best.

I can't be the only one wondering what it was sitting on during the fire. Coffee can?

Great start- hope the nylon is having a similar result!

So, since the soap method didn't take the staining off, I decided to try aluminum polish. I tried it on a test car first just to make sure I wasn't going to strip the anodizing. I must say, I was surprised to see that I was finally getting some results. I left one wedge of staining on the chassis to show the difference.



I still have a long way to go, but looking back, I've already come quite a ways.
