Very cool, thanks.
Where's a good place to get those cells? Guess I'll need some braided battery strap too.

No worries, if you think of it, PM me your email and I will send you the PDF on monday. As for the batteries I believe Omni Models has the 1900 and 2400/2500 SCR cells. Maxx packs and Gulf Coast battery also sell a 2200 cell that is pretty nice and half the cost of the 2400 cells. There are industrial places too but you usually have to be an industrial customer and all that. If you wanted you could use any sub-c cell, even Nimh cells, but then you lose the cool factor of being able to use your vintage charger. Plus if its going to sit on the shelf, nicads dont mind as long as they are discharged. I have some that were stored properly 25 years ago, and still perform very well. If I remember right the oldest packs I have seen either used braid, or sheet copper "bars" that were only about .020" thick. Either is way overkill for that motors current draw.

So for the body, I decided to go with that original NIB TOJ body that was on ebay. I haven't been able to figure out for sure if my car had the Can Am porsche body of the TOJ body, so I decided to go with the TOJ since the vintage one was available. Maybe someday I'll get another pan car and put a more "fun" body on it, but for this one I decided to make it as close as I could to the one from when I was a kid. I've been texting my brother (3 years older) about it and he's pretty excited to see it. I may even paint the thing brown like ours was, but at least add a couple stripes and decals or something to spruce it up a bit. I hate painting though, so we'll see. Might even leave it clear...

This came while I was out of town. Vintage TOJ body. After looking at it in person, I'm about 90% certain this is the same body we had on ours.

I'd say drill and tap for 4-40, make the collars from white delrin.

How about these,

The nylon posts in this kit are the same size as a RC10 buggy wing mount tube, to give you an idea of the size of

the collars,

Cheers, Dave. :)

Thanks to Alan I'll be getting a set of the collars. Thanks Alan!

Can someone tell me what that piece, 3423, is for? Looks like it goes below the collars, so i guess it wouldnt support the body. My car has a similar piece made from g10, I'm guessing that's not original, or is it?

3423 is a fiberglass cross brace. One guess who can probably make you one.

EDIT: NM looks like you already have one?

I have one that I'm guessing Jeff made, i just don't see any function for it.
Is it just supposed to keep the axle/motor supoorts from flexing relative to each other?

Edit: i texted Jeff, he thinks its the original one. 8)

I just took the plunge and started poking holes in the vintage TOJ body and got it to fit nicely. I'm glad i went with this body, I've been nothing but smiles since I got it on the car.
It's funny, but not too surprising i guess, there's no overspray film on it, anyone know when bodies started coming with it?

I got this extra little wing with the body too... not sure if i will use it or not. I think on ours we had a wing that was on a wire in the wing tubes. I guess it would have been the 3182 wing, theres a nip one on ebay right now for $68 plus shipping. Thats twice what i played for the body, lol. I may skip the wing

Can you link me to the ebay wing? When I got my TOJ (a few years ago) it came with two wings, covered in saran wrap. If they are shaped the same I could hook you up, not costing you no stinking 68 bucks!
