If you don't mind, I'll use the top two pictures for the history!
Let me know.

Great info!
-> in the 2004 section, the picture above "RC18T" caption is incorrect (the pic appears to be an RC10B3)
This was fixed. Much appreciated!

Where can I get information about the 1971 RC2 vehicle? Browser search is so far ineffectual.

Hi Steve,
The TQ10 came in 1988 from my knowedge, I'm trying to locate the kit number but as it was developped by Team Associated for Horizon Hobby, may any AE part number was affected.
About #6010 car kit, I have an original "Complete kit less radio and batteries" and a Championship Edition "Complete kit less radio, batteries and electronic speed controler"
The RC10B5M Championship edition came late 2015 after the Spencer Rivkin WC title and after the Factory lite

I´m not really sure if the RC1 was released in 1970.
I did search for informations and timelines for a lot of cars, but the RC1 is a difficult task.
There are not many documents available for that car but most of them don´t wear a date.
I also bought original photos and documents for the very early version but even those don´t wear a date at the backside or something.
Another problem is, what exactly do you call RC1? The original prototype was designed by Bob Morissey and run as the 'Bob Morrisey Special'. Some race results also noted his car as 'scratchbuilt' but never as RC1. It seems some people think this as being the very first RC1 version. Maybe the prototype was renamed in RC1 later when Bob left Associated.
I personally think this being a prototype. For me a car should be noted for the timeline when it´s being released as a kit and from what I found so far, this was not before 1971.
The RC2 was released around one year later when the original RC1 kit got the one-piece rear end as an upgrade. The old RC1 kit was renamed as RC2 then.

I would love to know what you think the post should be changed to. Should the date be changed? Is 1970 close enough to leave as is? Should a note be added saying the date is approximate? (I don't want to politicize this, but get the real history out there.)
Roger Curtis is satisfied with calling it the RC1. I would love to hear different perspectives on this, and am grateful for you sharing yours. Let me know what changes would make the listing more factual.

I have two of the America’s Hobby Center catalogs. One from 1971 and one from 1973. The 1971 doesn’t list Associated Electrics at all. The 1973 lists the RC1 complete, RC1a Indy, RC1b sports car, and RC1c stock car.
I would say this helps narrow it to a couple years and definitely not just prototypes.

I updated the page:

Would it be possible to get a larger and sharper photo of the page so I can include it in the site?

I had a look at my archive.
My personal timeline says 1971 for the RC1 and 1972 for the RC2. This is what I found a couple of years ago.
I have seen an original 1972 Associated Electrics catalog with two or three pages for slot racing stuff and one page for 1/8 scale. At this catalog the RC2 was mentioned also as the basic kit.
I also recorded one comment where the first RC1 kits were sold at a 1971 race in St. Louis. Just don´t remember the source.
Another 1973 catalog showed the first Lexan bodies. I remember that exactly because I own a 1973 Ferrari 312P body.
