Always wanted the SRT.

Let me know if you want to sell it!

It's now my son's vintage race truck, as I found/built yet another one for myself, LOL. Again, many Factory Works parts, including the 'prototype' green chassis parts. I went with alloy bits all over 'mine' as well - both trucks are ballistic on a 13.5. Wrapped my son's truck with a Vintage A&L body, with my colors inspired by a G Booker paint job, while my truck has an Andy's 10T body on it.

I love the SRT so much, I reworked my Slash into a stretched SRT as well - handles amazing...

I can't say I'm a huge Traxxas fan but those stadium trucks look great. I assume you can still get most parts for them ?

The 'revised' version of them is called the Rustler :) since Traxxas re-uses nearly every part they ever created, the arms are on the Slash, the internals on all the 'magnum' 2.72 transmissions are compatible - gear diff now, not ball diff, but still available. Rear arm mounts were repurposed onto some of the nitro trucks, so they are available, same front bulkhead. Rear bulkhead, original trans case, motor plate, motor guard, chassis & battery box parts are no longer available, but there are still compatible items to keep these trucks running for many moons. Now with the release of the Drag truck, another revision to the transmission, I'm sure those parts are compatible and a return to a metal motor plate is a positive!

That's what I figured, would be fun to build and nearly bullet proof. Good for youngsters :P

I have that same model SRT. I meant the first SRT picture that started this post. I was showing off to a friend of mine and the transmission/gearbox failed. There is an idler gear that lost its teeth. I have tried every where I can think of to find this particular diff but I just can't find one. I don't need the whole diff but I do need the idler gear. Most say 30 tooth but its hard to count mine since over half are gone. I never did get much more than the complete car but with no parts listings. I don't know whether to get a metal idler gear or plastic. I would rather get plastic as I don't mind replacing just one gear. But with batteries getting better, lasting longer I thought I would ask. I still use nicad batteries and a brushed motor. Was considering a brushless setup but not sure if the diff could take the torque. Maybe there is an upgrade but not sure as this diff is integral to the rear shock mounts.

My first post after introducing myself so I hope I am in the right place to ask this. I am just used to clicking and inserting a photo on other sites I have been on but this is different. How do I get a picture off my computer to show here to make it more clear as to my diff or any other part I might want to ask about. I didn't see how to post in theFAQ section.

Thanks

Russ

Welcome Russ! Any Slash, Rustler, Bandit, Stampede idler gear works :) Yes, they are metal, but it should be okay. If you are dead set on plastic, I'll dig in my stuff, I am sure to have a few.

Thanks for the welcome and the information. I can find both online easily enough now that i know what to look for, although i really appreciate the offer. Is there any way of looking up that particular diff, from the srt that started this thread? It's a simple diff but the encasement is different than the others but the same as the one in that 1st picture. How do I post a picture here or in any section I may need answers? A pic makes the difference many times.

Thanks

I checked out the exploded view of that new tranmission. That actually looks nice. The new diff being the most interesting to me. Of course they kept the dreaded integrated rear arm mounts.

This will get you everything you need - Traxxas Legacy PDF manuals and exploded views.

FYI - the ball diff 'upgrade' for the modern trucks I mentioned - it IS the SRT diff.
