Hi hibiki_45 and welcome to the forums.
Really enjoying your resto build so far. There's just something about gold anno and white nylon that brings back happy memories for me. :D
I also have the Factory Works steering upgrade on my runners and they're totally bullet proof. Although mine were made some 30 years ago, they have survived countless races from bitd and today's backyard bashing. Also, with the included shoulder nuts and pivot bearings, steering is more precise than with the sloppy stock setup.
Just get a set of bearings for the car and FW steering upgrade and you're good to go - it's money well spent. :D

Thanks. That’s a good recommendation. This build is going pretty slow, it’s fun and a good stress reliever to work on after work. I’m currently waiting for bearings to come so I can rebuild the stealth drive. It takes forever as I am shipping it all to Dubai. It’s fun though and my kids are enjoying helping out. I think they’ll be amazed once I get it up and running. I want to at least get it finished by Christmas.

Yes, so what would an era correct upgrade look like?
The upgrade from Factory Works consist of a bellcrank set, crossmember (replaces the short turnbuckle), Some screws and washers, steering posts, and instructions. I have this steering kit on multiple RC10's myself.

So my bearings finally arrived from Avid and some new nuts and bolts so I’ve got the rear end and gear box rebuilt now.

Rear arms on now and shocks. I didn’t fully rebuild the shocks, just cleaned them up on the outside, drained them and refilled with fresh oil.

I think I should probably get new wheels and tyres if I’m going to run this thing. Any recs?

I have the motor it game with, an Old ESC and Futaba radio, servo and receiver. I was just missing crystals, they came in the post and I realised I bought AM ones by mistake. Should be FM. 🤦‍♂️😭

Looking great. What do you think of the RPM gear cover? I've always thought it was a little large compared to say, the World's re-release black cover.

I think the RPM cover was designed to clear the VTS clutch setup.

I myself, for this car, would look to grab one of the rere covers from the Classic (if they're still available). Or an aftermarket one from OldRC.

hmm, now you say that. Maybe it is. I’m not knowledgeable on these things like you guys. I just picked this up from AMain website. I didn’t realize there was more than one kind! Maybe I’ll change it later but all these orders and the shipping to Dubai is racking up the costs. My wife is wondering when I’ll be finished with this. 😂

Oh man. Another part where I’ve bought the wrong thing. Didn’t know there was more than one type!

I didn't realize you where in Dubai! There's slight differences between the black Associated cover and the RPM, not that much though... A little "sleeker".
