Well I ended up getting an Andy's Renegade body. I think I like the look of it over the Viper.

For rear tires I went with Schumacher mini spike 2.0".

I have a set of these and they match the fronts pretty well. Found a couple pair of rears on Ebay just a couple minutes ago. Proline Cherokee.

As luck would have it my cell phone literally crapped out today...uggh , so I will have to get one in the next few days to take pics of this build as I go. I will have parts coming through the mail all next week. Today, I have been working on removing old solder from a nice looking Reedy Force II stock motor, and soldering motor plugs to the Novak Rooster Reversible esc. Not much to do until my parts come in, so hang tight.

Ok, I'm back in business on the CE. I had originally planned to put a Hobbywing Justock esc/motor combo in this car, but for now I picked up a Novak Rooster esc and a decent looking Reedy Force II motor. They both needed a little attention. The wires were cut short on the esc, and the motor neeed a little cleaning up, so I saw this as an opportunity to do a little hobby work on my Christmas vacation. I used what wires and connectors I had on hand at the moment, so it's just a make-shift kind of repair until I can get a stock BL system for it.

The Pro-Line Diamond front tires are just plain cool! Although I wonder what surface they are meant for? The Schumacher Mini Spike 2 rear tires were a good fit and look right at home on the car.

Right now I'm working on finishing up the steering, as I have the z-wires and collars that are needed for that. I picked up a black 81T black spur gear to install, so I won't ruin the white original. I have some RPM white heavy duty rod ends that will be going on some nice ti turnbuckles. I also have a few other parts on the way like Avid bearings, a Trinity Speed Spec 6-cell nicd, and Team Associated Factory Team curved body scissors to trim the Andy's Renegade body. I will be making my own chassis protector to protect the value of the car.

I started out with 21/81 gearing. I know the Force II motor has 34 or 36 degrees of advanced timing, so I hope that 21t pinion isn't to tall. We'll see. I have a question on the steering rack...is it supposed to be tight? I mean it's movable, but nothing like a nice bb setup. I even backed off on the nylon nuts to give it some slack..and it didn't help. Should I upgrade it to ball bearing steering? Or is there a trick to it? This car has only been ran one time according to the last owner I bought it from, so I'm thinking it might free up some as I use it. Hrmm.

Those diamonds I believe were meant for slick hard surfaces like asphalt or hard clay tracks. Worked great on the coated tennis courts near me . was a rarity to pull wheelies with my first rc10 until I got a set of these.

The car looks great!
The stock bellcranks should move freely. I think most guys upgrade to BB cranks to gain precision (the stock setup can be sloppy). I've had stock cranks bind before and discovered that the screw was bent slightly (it doesn't take much).

Pulling wheelies on the tennis court eh? If I tried that here at my HOA they would probably run me off. But I think I'll try it anyway. My Avid bearings came today. They're in the box of goodies with all the other parts I ordered. I'll have time this weekend to install a few things on the car. Pics are coming!

Thank you for the help XLR8. I will take the bellcranks off this weekend to see if the screws are bent. I have also heard of people sanding the bottoms of them to make them perfectly smooth.

x2 on the chassis protector. A scratch free one adds at least $50 to its value. My CE ended up being my main 1/10 scale car and its not quite scratch free...
For the cranks, I like the Dhawk aluminum ones on ebay. Just gotta locktite the threads for the ball ends.

wasn't that good on the rest of the drivetrain. Ended up with slipper too tight and stripping idler but was fun while it lasted.

You can't beat a good RC10 runner BooGTS. Thanks for sharing. I still need to make or buy a chassis protector. I definitely won't be driving it without one. Klavy69, I whip my cars up and down my street all the time, but you have me wanting to try out the tennis courts at the end of the block.

So I got the steering working smoothly. It was a slightly bent kingpin. Not sure how that happened, but that was the problem. Here's a few pics of the car so far:
