Your truck looks very nice. Inner fender wells are a nice touch. The Grey interior and painted half look a ton better on a black truck.
Thanks Basher. The fender wells fit nicely into my RC budget.
The black half top sorta reminds me of a '70's era black Caddy with a landau top and opera windows.
Pimp my crawler. haha..

The A-team!! Great vid, I love the camera angle while the truck was jumping! Like watching the TV show! Now just need to make a Mr T. van. Hmm, maybe a new project......

I'm Way Ahead Of you. I have a lunchbox body mocked up on a tamiya race master chassis. Perfect wheelbase match. Now if I can just find my black and red paint....

Those are the tyres I'm running , way better and not too expensive , the foam is a little hard , if you run without foams they tend to roll over in corners a bit but the grip if fantastic .

Okay, I understand now.
Austar AX-3021 are actually the same as Injora #3021. Thanks Dadio

A good compromise with foams are the 2 stage foams. Stiff closed cell core surrounded by a soft open cell foam. Your tires still conform nicely around rocks, but don't colapse sideways when turning. Downside is they probably cost more than the tires we're using here.

I was thinking of spinning the foams up and dremmeling grooves into the face in contact with the tread .

just make foam donut 'sandwiches'. slice the firm foam into 4 pieces, soft foam into 8 pieces. sandwich soft<<firm>>soft inside the tire. sidewalls will be squishy but tire will mostly keep form. depending on how you slice in thickness determines the squishiness.

I've seen that done somewhere. Seems like it should work.

Another thing that has not been addressed here yet, is adding wheel weights. This is an inexpensive mod that really adds to the articulation and stability of a crawler. I added them to the inner lip of my ascender wheels, and it was an instant improvement in its capability for about $7. When I install my new tires, I will be mounting them around the inside of the HG's wheels.

That's a good point although inserting weights inside the tires might complicate the foam insert issue a little. I'll wait to see how you handle that before trying it myself.
Well, that gear I've been waiting for arrived today but they sent the wrong size so I'll need to order another one. They sent a 21 tooth rather than 22 but while I have it here I went ahead and did a test fit. It's gonna require a lot of grinding to match the thickness of the stock gear. Not so easy as Denny's video might suggest. Stay tuned...
