For the wheels, rather than fit foam tires to the kit wheels, I opted instead for later-spec pre-glued/trued ones.
These wheels are no longer carbon-filled and look like ABS plastic instead. They lack the embossed logo of the carbon-filled wheels and look rather plain.
Fortunately Corally makes these wheel decals to add some bling.
They are precision-cut and center easily into the face of the wheels. With them attached I feel the overall look is improved.
Here's a shot with my other Corally, the SP2, also sporting wheel decals albeit in different design.

Group 8: Body posts & battery clamps
Final step for this kit. The battery clamps clip usefully into place on the radio tray.
Servo saver is not provided and I have now one on order, but here is where the car stands now.
Originally I had wanted to fit Novak servo and receiver, but having done some research I learned the car was designed with the Futaba S132H servo in mind, so that's what I will put in later. I've also sourced a Futaba FP-R2H receiver, I think this would be circa 1988, a little late for the PK Corally but close enough for me.

Looking good

The receiver is perfectly OK date wise, they were released earlier than 1988, at least 1986. I have the same servo and receiver in my Schumacher C car.

Thanks for sharing your build! Looks modern even by today's standards. I always liked Corally but parts availability here was non existent bitd.
And unfortunately with the demise of PK Model Racing a few years back (no one wanted to take over the shop and inventory) the chance of finding old stock from PK themselves has also vanished.

They still had a lot of spares for the old cars.
Anyway, great thread!

Thanks!
A few years ago I was reaching out to the owner of PK Racing when he was trying to find a buyer for the business. I did take over a box of parts but these were primarily for the 1/10 cars; actually I am only interested in the 1/12 Corally cars and didn't find too many 1/12 parts in this box.
I did however very happily take over some of his pre-production cars in his shop display.
And learned a little more history of the business from the owner, which was really interesting

The servo saver looks like it will arrive in a few more weeks. In the meantime I have installed the Futaba servo and receiver.
I've also installed a Corally MMS2 ESC. This isn't period-correct for the '86 PK Corally - it was launched in 1991 if I'm not mistaken, more in the right place in a Corally SP12 instead. Nonetheless it's made by Corally so I went with it. Plus I don't have any other ESC from this time.
I've seen ESC by CS Electronik used in the PK car and hopefully I can find one some day.
I'll need to figure out the right motor for this car too. I've a Reedy red label 1/12 wind but am inclined to think they were not often used in the PK car.

My goodness what a build... if you were into electric on-road in the mid-80's, this was THE desirable car... So much different than the others, so expensive, so fast with a few Euro titles under its belt in the first years. Then Spashett winning the worlds with it...
Thanks for sharing this superb build!!!

Really well documented build! But why oh why did they "copy" slotted screws also from Schumacher???

Thanks guys!
My servo saver arrived today and the steering links are finally installed.
I've also put in a Team Associated 1/12 Club Racer On-road Modified motor from 1983.. the red and silver label matching the red anodized parts of this car.
The lateryear pre-mounted wheels turned out to be a different offset in the front and would result in a wider front track, so I've reverted to the kit carbon-filled wheels.
With TOJ body mounted
