All I can say is Hallelujah! :D
I thought this day would never come.

I'm always curious about the belt covers: dirt finding its way in the transmission is the Achille's heel for this car. The covers appear same as vintage so I'm wondering how they are sealed to the chassis. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I'm with you Mike. I reckon that if you don't pre-order, you won't receive one of these anytime soon.

My small collection of vintage Mids probably just became much less valuable - but I really don't care.

An interesting belt tensioner and covers changed from lexan to hard plastic.

This just in:

"Hello,

I am sorry, we do not take pre orders for consumers.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Kyosho America
"

... and this:

"Dear Horizon Hobby Customer,

Thank you for contacting Horizon Hobby. I'm sorry, however I do not currently show anything on our website labeled as 'Optima MID'. If we do decide to carry this in the future though, it will be posted on our website at that time.

Thank you,

Seeing how this was just officially announced..it will probably be a few weeks before we start seeing it listed on sites for preorders. On a side note, Kyosho America has all the Legendary Series back in stock..get em while you can.

Looks like it only comes with an extra wing and turbo decals so you can alternately make that version as shown. It is also not clear if those parts are in a limited number of kits or just this first run in general..

Thank you for that link.
I think perhaps the new belt tensioner is also meant to increase belt contact with the drive pulley. The original car was around 135 degrees belt contact but with the tensioner it appears to be nearly 180 degrees. Either way, there's no doubt this was done to prevent belt skipping with modern lipo/brushless power. Good job Kyosho.

The 2 wings are because they are hard plastic like the re-release Scorpion and Javelin wings. The front arms are slightly different than the Optima and Turbo Optima ones due to the stabilizer mounting differently. I want to see more detail on the belt tensioner.

In case you missed it, these photos are tucked away in the "Overview" section in the previous link.

The tensioner eccentric appears to occupy the space where the intermediate gear shaft's left support used to reside so now I'm curious how the gear is supported.
I reckon we'll need to see the right side trans case.
