It would be nice to have a set of street tires to stick on one of the wheel sets I got. Can anyone tell me which tires will fit the Proline wheels that are made for on-pavement use?

There probably isn't anything currently available that fits those wheels.

Best bet would probably be some JC Racing wheels and Traxxas Anaconda tires. Duratrax Banditos are nice too.

As an alternative to ordering the JC Racing wheels from overseas, you can use JConcepts B2 front wheels and Traxxas 7171 rear wheels with Factory Works hexes.

I’m pretty certain those two sets of proline wheels are 2.2”
But they are old and long since discontinued and look to be in very nice condition along with the tires. I’m with juicedcoupe with getting current stuff to run it. Hang onto the others for when it’s on the shelf 8)

I have a set of the rears, they definitely aren't 2.2.

Even if they were, a modern 2.2 tire is wider.

Are these proline wheels that came with this package of any value? Are they from the 80's or 90's?

I noticed that the pinion gear is missing from this motor. Which pinion gear should I use and which screws are "correct" for the motor install? Thanks and sorry for all the dumb questions.

The gear could be 32 or 48 pitch, with would need a matching pinion.

You need to determine what pitch and tooth spur gear you currently have first.

The motor screws are M3, typically 6mm long.

Older brushed motors can have 4-40 screws. I spent far too much effort figuring that one out the hard way,
If the screws thread in easily you are using the correct ones.

It's going to depend on how pretty they are. Tires show wear quickly so shelf quality vintage tires have a premium value. Worn vintage tires, except for the most rare, aren't expensive or valuable.

After 2 weeks with USPS the car arrived. Here are some more pics. I did the original looking body, the other one came with it.

I hooked this up to a flysky controller and it works well. The only problem I'm having is that reverse seems to be pretty much all or nothing. It does not start slow or have any variability. I put in reverse, it takes a second, then it pretty much goes full throttle. Is this due to incompatibility with the newer control and the old school ESC? How beat up are these tires/wheels?

Good looking buggy.

I'm not familiar with Futaba ESCs, but on a Novak with brakes, the first trigger push is for brakes and the 2nd gets to reverse.

I adjusted the ESC Neutral and high points. Even after reading the instructions I'm unclear as to how to adjust the brake/reverse. I'm wondering if the adjustment is on the controller side and this controller doesnt have an adjustment.. ? Forward works great.

Is your throttle set for 50/50 or 70/30?

I'm pretty sure that esc needs 50/50 to work correctly.

I think you may be onto something here. I have the el-cheapo Flysky FS-G2E and I'll bet you it's a 70/30 based on the way it acts.

Essentially, problem is when I go on the reverse side I have to push the trigger pretty far back before the ESC will engage. When it does engage it goes half or more throttle at minimum. Brake doesnt seem to work either. The forward side works as it should from very low to high speed through the full range of the trigger.

Are there any suitable 2.4ghz controllers that have 50/50, assuming this could be the problem?
