I have a friend who does anodizing...

He buys the dye stuff from the company that he bought the ano kit from, and he says that the dye for the black ano is actually 3-4 times as costly as ANY of the other colors.

Go figure.

Anywaze, he also says that the black DOES INDEED hide minor blemishes MUCH better than any of the other colors, so that's probably one reason for the change, as Doug said.

and god knows the tub chassis' have plenty of blemishes that need to be hidden.

Cheap tooling I imagine, after all it is just a "toy car", it is not like they are putting it on the Space Shuttle with zero tolerances....... I wonder how often they had to rework the tooling, if ever, or if they had a go or no go gauge.

No kidding. You learn something new every day... I wonder why most anodizers pricing doesn't reflect that? Must have to do with quantity of production, and black being the most common color.
