Aren’t the wide front RPMs the same width as the Rustler rears?

To my knowledge, they are 10mm longer than factory fronts. This would allow you to use the same offset wheels all around.
The front and rear wheels on electric trucks have 10mm difference in offset.
The front caster block, carrier, and wider hex account for the remaining difference.

Something else to keep in mind is that the Nitro Rustler rear carriers position the rear axles out a couple mm, compared to the electric ones.
Something to keep in mind if using CVD's.

While the rear nitro (also hawk and that era) arm mounts pull the pivots closer together, compared with the current gear box mounted arm attachments.

First of all, why’d you cut off the ears on the tranny case? I am sure you are aware yourself, those use a longer screw from the arm mounts to stecht to. It should work with either the RPM mount or the Traxxas Nitro rustler mounts. Perhaps some shaving or shimming required.
The RPM wide arms make the truck quite wide. The Slash arms narrow the rear to use the same deep dish wheels. I think the part number on the slash rear arms is the same as the SRT. I know the RPM case uses the molded arm mounts but you'd have to modify the nitro arm mounts to get them to work with the RPM case.

I have something along those lines in the pipeline, should I ever get around to it.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with
Wide arm on the right, standard on the left.

Here is the gearbox installed in the truck. It would look so much better with the excess fat trimmed off but for now it will do. I may buy another case down the track and experiment with it. Maybe even cut out a new motor plate that has a gear cover mounting tab would be ideal.
Older style gear cover

Q&A time..... or just Q time actually.....
What shocks do you prefer? Stock plastic Rustler shocks or Blue AE shocks. Or do I just bite the bullet and buy another set of fancy Traxxas Big Bores?

Plastic shocks!!!?? But don't they HAVE TO BE hard anodized and teflon coated, or you are a total loser?
Whichever ones perform best and are in the budget. I wouldn't buy another pair of 2600 series "big bores" unless you were trying to keep it as Traxxas as possible. But they are out there, and available fairly easily, as you know. I will now go look closely at your pictures and edit back with which look "cooler".
OK, edit: the ultras? don't detract from the vibe, but the AE's definitely contribute to the blue bits theme. Tough call.

I think the white spring plastic shocks look more authentic.... And the blue AE shocks detract from the Traxxas vibe.
So maybe I'll just buy a set of 5862 Big Bores, the rest of the truck has a fair bit of Traxxas upgrades, so it's only fitting to use them.

I say the blue AE shocks with the white Traxxas springs. Might have to swap spring cups accordingly,

I like this.
Frankentruck printed me some collars that better fit the Traxxas Ultra springs to AE shocks. They also fit them to Traxxas "Big Bores".
But if you have both, you can use the Associated collar and Traxxas Ultra collar together.

I couldn't do it, lol.
As much as the blue shocks are great a "Pro TRX" style build just isn't right with AE shocks. I went ahead and ordered a set of 5862's.

There were other options. Just saying.
That said, I do like the big bores. Despite not actually being a big bore shock, they are very smooth.

Are the 5862's just assembled w/springs "for Slash" but they utilize the 2600 series bodies? Which, one
could argue that they were, in fact, "big bore" at the time of their release. Certainly not big bore by "today's standards".
OK, this is me leaving, this is me leaving. I will transform back into a thumbs up thanker for all subsequent posts from the "OP". Thank you and have a wonderful "winter months observances season".
