goof off and goo gone are 2 completely different animals. I personally haven't had an issue with goo gone (the citrus one) but I wouldn't use it on anything painted.

Goof off I'd stay away from personally, too aggressive.

WD-40 often works well enough and who doesn't have a can of it laying around?

My mistake.. thought they were the same. Goof off is definitely the one you have to be careful with.

PB Blaster works very well, too. Be aware that it was apparently intended to be applied from across the room. Every can I ever had was pressurized to about 1 million PSI, like Hornet spray. I spray it into a towel and wipe it onto the part, or cover the part with a towel before spraying, otherwise it goes everywhere.

Regardless of the chemical you use, a purpose built plastic scraper is an excellent tool to have. I used to repair credit card terminals for a living. Those things always have stickers all over them. Goo Gone and a scraper is all we ever needed.

I use Goo Gone with plastic razor blades and have good results. The scraper is a key item to have.

Edit: My mistake, I was thinking Goof Off, not Goo-Gone.

The bottle of Goof Off that I have is just acetone (I think there is a few versions). Cheaper to get the big cans in the paint department.

The vapor is rough but it dissolves CA glue. It's safe for nylon parts but will dissolve regular plastic.
