Hello All,

My daily driver is a 2000 Nissan Xterra (can't find pictures right now).

My car is an 87 Porsche 928S4. Pretty much stock and I've had it for about 16 years.

My project car is a 1982 Porsche 928 with the Competition Package. Lots of work to do on this one, but I'm hoping that I can leverage some of my RC skills to complete this project. How big did Tecnacraft make their trunbuckles?

@highwayracer: :shock: :shock: :shock: :!: :!: :!:

thumbs up. what's goin on here guys looks like we have some porsche enthusiasts here. what about parts supply for these classics? that s4 was a killer back then (and still is if you can afford fuel prices right now, in germany it would be very pricey :( )
that v8 was famous for its long long belt or how that thing is called in the us, it is keilriemen/steuerriemen bzw. steuerkette. i don't believe there has ever been an engine with an belt like that. awesome car.

Yes, the timing belt is rather long (around 6 feet). It connects everything from the water pump, cams, cup holder  We are very fortunate to have 3-4 parts suppliers in the US. The cost of parts through these vendors are a fraction of what porsche charges. Most owners (including myself) have become mechanics because of the rising automotive labor prices. In addition, there aren't too many Porsche dealerships that can (or like to) work on a 928.

highwayracer

Yah, this place is way more relaxed. Those guys over "there" get worked up over nothing.

Rennlist?

When US guys use German words it sounds as funny to us as it must to you when we try to use english words in our language ...

Anyway, cool cars guys!

Here's what's waiting on restauration at the moment: my 1994 Minicooper.

Rennlist use to called Porschelist until Porsche began legal action against anyone that used "Porsche" on the web. Atleast some of us pronounce Porsche like Por-sha vs. porshhhh

I know what you mean. Have you seen those 928 vs. 944/951 threads...those are hillarious. But if you notice, we (28s & 44s) always seem to band together to fight off the 911 crowd  And then there are those SUV owners. All of the "numbers" (356-997) seem to gang up on them.

Again, I just joined this forum in late December (thanks Gary and Erik for the invite) and I have more posts here than in 7 years at Rennlist.

Regards,
highwayracer

Same problem here with anything associated to the word "Mini". BMW (owner of the "Mini" brand) is against every board or forum or shop that uses the word "Mini" in associated with real cars.

I started with the bare shell last week... As such I've been away from the computer and toy cars.

This car will be going to England to participate in the LeJog in December.
