tried dot 3 
tried 30% nitro on a badly painted body (flaking)
tried 30% nitro on a lid 93 yok body
got the fuel mix with out oil
so beats me...i layed a cotton towling cloth in the body which was soaked in fuel it did remove a lot of paint but also clouded windows.. kept a good eye on it too.
might try dot 5 next
