Interesting, I have never seen that. On the last of the Pro SE and/or LXT? My SE does have different color internal gears. I thought I heard someone say the last LXTs had the XX retro tranny, does anyone know if that is correct, and are sure it originally came that way? I will certainly keep an eye out for that.

If you check vintagelosi.com it talks about the LXT having the retro fit tranny, the casing on my LXT is grey and it says 2.61 on the side. That's the retrofitted XX tranny.

Oops, found the manual that confirms it. Thanks. Perhaps in the period between the XX buggy and truck intros?

Still interested in knowing more about the gray case six gear if anyone can help.

The retrofit tranny was used mostly on the JRX-t & Junior T conversions that losi sold when they came out with the LXT, the tranny is a pile, find the 3 gear!--I bought one of the converted trucks when I was 15, sold my Composite Craft/RPM 10t before even running the LXT, and immediatly lost the track championship in the next three races with that truck-to
another LXT with the "correct" tranny

What do you want to know its exactly the same but gray? I think I still have one. I know Highway has one I just sent it to him. here is pics of my LXT with a retro fit and a stock six gear gray and black

So the LXT came with the gray six gear for a while, then the retro 3 gear? Or was the gray six a replacement part only? Did the buggy ever come with a gray anything, or was this just on the Ts after the XX buggy came out? Sorry for all the questions, but I got caught with my pants down, perhaps a little too eager to get them pulled back up.

Agree the three gear is a huge improvement over the six. That's why I have a spare extra six, then ran 2 Stealths, and one MIP before switching to the XX retros when they came out. My Pro SE six gear has never been removed from the bags.

I dont know if the gray 6 gear trans ever came in a car. the one I pictured came in a
junior two I bought on Ebay. and the rest were replacement cases. so I think some of the very last Junior series might have had them but I have had a lot of LXT's and all but 1 came with the reto fit.

A little late to the party...

The origninal LXT kits didn't have the retrofit trans. They came on the later versions.

As for the 6 gear cases, they were obviously made after the retrofit came out. Prior to that, losi only used the black plastic.

I don't know if losi put those in the latest version of the junior2/t. Sort of like the white front bulkheads...they're around, but I don't they were ever included in any dof the kits. It's possible that the non-black parts were only made because losi has to provide parts support and their suppliers only had a different color plastic for the injection molding. By then, they were using the composite parts on the XX cars...no more soft nylon.

Same goes with the dark gray shocks on the later junior 2/t. The early junior cars had the light silver anodized shocks. The dark gray came on the later versions of the junior 2 and the XX sport.

Either of you guys have an extra tranny case for the 2.61 retrofit, it doesnt have to be new, but in good enough condition for a resto runner, that you might want to part with

I bought a new built Junior T (a long time ago) on ebay that had a grey trans case installed. I didn't build it, but I can only assume as it was new built, it came that way.

I only have the 2.19:1 Buggy cases to part with. I have about 6 of those but only 3 of the 2.61 truck cases and need them all. Sorry

Just messing, I'll just keep my eyes peeled on the bay. I can still rebuild the truck with the two rear tranny mounts broken, I just can't drive it

I can hook you up with a buggy Trans but the case on my LXT has a crack in it also I cant find one to fix it good luck I have been looking for a while I sold a couple then relised I lost my mind if I would have known they were going to dry up I would have sold the trucks I sold with 6 gear trans!! not my retrofits

There was a sweet LXT, new built on ebay, and Gixer Jay on the Tamiyaclub, snatched it from under me, he got an impressive collection of Vintage RC10s and Losi.
