this was a racer's ride article, with an in depth look at jack johnson's nats winning truck. It may have been norrca, I'm not sure

is it the one that had the flat prototype front and rear arms with holes drilled in them and grey xx gearbox? i think i had the issue, it came with a fold out poster with the truck flying over a jump. i am pretty sure i have it, i will have to look over at my dad's house to try and find the issue.

i'll also keep going at it. give me some time here. i'm still flipping pages.

wyldbill, That's the one!!! I was looking through the scan section one day and the memory of how hard I stared at that article when I was 12 or 13 came back to me!! I'd really like to get an lxt and machine some grey or black delrin arms. it also had that ugly body on it, which was later an optional body. I believe it said they threw that mold together a few days before the race. Whatever happened to Jack Johnson? I remember he started racing 1/8th scales when they weren't very popular in the states then I never heard about him after that.

Yeah that was one ugly body. A group of us were chatting with Jay Halsey while watching the action. Jay asked us what we thought of the body. We stammered a little, finally one of us commented that it was unique looking. Jay cracks up laughing, and said something like “well I think it’s the #$%^ing ugliest body I’ve ever seen!”

Jay said they decided to do the truck just 5 weeks before the race and realized the last week that they didn’t have a body. He said he went down to Andy’s and looked around, ended up taking a mold for the Lamborghini truck and hacked it up to fit, something like 2 days before leaving for the race.

if you guys don't have the issue, drop me a line. i'll check to see if i have it so i could scan it for the poster.

i found it, i do not have the fold out poster that shows the body so i scanned the small photo that was in the article that covered the nats. here ya go,

no wonder i couldn't find it. from the looks of it, it looks like it came from a special edition of rcca.

If I'm not mistaken it was also in a regular issue, I don't think I ever bought a special edition of rcca. I could definatly be wrong though that was 17 years ago

Wyldbill this is awesome!Can you please post a higher resolution scan whenever you feel like doing so.It is very hard for me to read the article at places which is a shame since it was very pleasant to see it here.Thanks!

i knew you guys would like it. it came from the '91 monster and racing trucks issue. i use to have the poster on my wall bitd so i dont have it any more it really showed the detail on the fugly body. sorry i tried to post it larger but the file was too big and it wouldnt take it. i could email it if you gus want it.

i will email out the article to the ones who pm'ed me. i am at work right now, i will try to do it when i get home. i am glad to help out, i was supprised that i still had it i tossed out most of the mag's when i moved.
