I was just repeating what I had heard. If you check the original thread, I was the guy who wanted post-1989 buggies in different classes. Time permitting and a decent turnout again, and I think separating into vintage (1989 & earlier) and classic (1990-on) would make things a lot more enjoyable.

i don't think spliting up the classes as you stated would be a
bad thing. except for the fact that the car count in each class would be kinda small.
i would like to see a "pure stock" class..... no matter what year the car is. pretty much box stock. 4 minute heats, old style tires/rims, esc's, motors, and some sort of spec battery. something like the duratrax 1900 nicad packs. but i don't see a bunch of people going out and buying 4-5 of those stick packs for one race. i would.

And then again I might be able to make it, kind of far away to travel on my budget, I will just have to wait and see.

No XXs??
As I can remember, there were only 3 XXs, neither of which won the Main.
Either way, I'll be there with my 10T

i didn't say the xx isn't allowed. i said it
shouldn't have been. and being as though i had nothing to do with the race (and still don't

), my personal opinion doesn't really matter. the xx came out in '94, and that was/is the cut off year. i simply saying that just because the xx came out in '94, it was still produced up until around '99 or so. so, in my eyes, that's not "vintage". i think the rule should've been
no car/truck in production after '94 is allowed.
tecnica2001 wrote:As I can remember, there were only 3 XXs, neither of which won the Main.
exactly, which should show that i'm not saying all of this because they swept the whole a-main, and everyone that didn't have one was at a disadvantage. that's not the case. but if you think about it, that car, no matter when it came out, is only like 10 years old in design. since that's when the xxx came out. hell if you wanted to, you could use a xxcr (which came out in what..... '96-'97) just because it's xx base.
my gripe all started with the possibility of next years race being opened up to a '95 cutoff. i know civliguy is the one who mentioned it in this thread, but i saw it on another site awhile back, and erich was the one that said it there. if you go opening it up any more, it'll just open it up for the b2 (b3), and i'll feel the same way about that as i do the xx.
why should i spend my time, money, effort to build a "vintage" car, then drive 4 hours (for me anyway) to the track, and the money in gas to get there, paying for the hotel, and spend the $40 for the entry fee, only to race against a bunch of newer cars? at that point, i could just stay home and race against the b4's at my local track.

Yep, I'm all for running vintage cars at the vintage races. I thought the 94 cut off date was peculiar. For me, the most advanced, or current piece of equipment that should b be allowed in a "vintage" car is an original Stealth or first generation Losi LRM tranny. That is, the last aluminum tub (or cf based on that car) RC10, the first RC10T, the JrxPro and the LXT. When Losi came on the scene, hit their stride and gave AE a run for their money. To me, that is the golden age of r/c off roading. Everything that came after.... well, came after.

Don't you guys consider the B2 pretty much equal to the XX? I was surprised that the XX was allowed to be honest. My opinion is that regardless of year, anything XX, B2, and later should not be allowed. I understand the definition of vintage and I do agree with you guys 100%, but on the flip side I think it is more a function of driver ability both in setup and getting around the course.

Are we leaning towards a separation of vintage and newer cars yet??

ya, but do i feel like going to a vintage race and running against cars that were still available 9-10 years ago in some way, shape, or form? not really in the spirit of the meet (in my opinion).
mrlexan wrote:I think it is more a function of driver ability both in setup and getting around the course.
i feel the same way, to an extent. if you put a b2 or xx in the hands of someone that knows what to do with it, and put an rc10 or jrx2 in the hands of someone that knows what to do with it, which do you think would be better? if the newer cars weren't any better, they would've never changed the designs, and continued to produce them for 6+ years.
i'm sure i'd show up no matter what..................... with a
vintage car of course.

I wouldn't go to a vintage drag race to watch Larry Dixon race.
I wouldn't want to hear Linkin Park on a classic rock station. (Well, I wouldn't want to hear them on
any station.

)
Putting 24" DUB wheels on any classic from the 1960's should be against the law.
I'll take the Honeymooners over Seinfeld any day.
Anything readily available in the past ten years IS NOT VINTAGE. Period.
I likes my beer COLD and my r/c cars OLD. And that's the only way I likes em dag nabbit! You punks get off my lawn!
I kid, but everything I just said is true.

That's it, that's it, I'm outta here|!!!!!!!!!!
LOL just messing,
Can I still run my RPMed RC10T?? is it vintage enough??
Or maybe perhaps an RC10 B4ed "Vintage RC10"?
Come on guys, I know a lot of you ran purely stock RC10s, but there were also a lot of people who ran cars that only had the RC10 chassis, everything else was RC10B2 - RC10B4 parts.
Hey Scr8p, I promise not to run my XX if you still come down to the Vintage Nats??
P.S. don't take me too serious guys, I'll show up and run whatever the rules state, pre 94, I'm there, no XXs, I'm there, R/C cars with a cable attached to the radio and the car, I'm there.
