I think if this does happen there needs to be a class just for our converted mutts!!

I would bet that class would draw back some of the 08 VONats participants.... myself included!

gearbox on-road classes have been around forever..... it's nothing new. so, if this happens, there's no reason that there wouldn't be a class for them.
but just as an FYI..........
most likely, this event would be at an indoor track, and probably on carpet. i believe the minimum pancar chassis height requirement is around 3/16" to 1/4"..... somewhere around there. so the same would go for the gearbox classes. but you'll need to make sure that your car DOES NOT touch the ground at all durning compression. no track owner like having divets taken out of his carpet track.
years ago, we used to run an edm (dirt modified) class on carpet. we had to make lexan covers to put over the front shocks and tower so that it would limit possible damage to the track if the front end would dig in during a flip.

Looks like we have a new volunteer..... the bad thing is that I would have to help by default, as I am pretty darn close (That is a not gripe, I would love to help).

well, the associated timeline says the ds came out in '96. so, if we'd go with the same year cut off as the off road nats, then no, it wouldn't be legal.
