Woah I am glad everyone's hardware is safely organised.

There is nothing worse than having a screw loose!

Black oxide steel 4-40 screws can be bought in bulk (cheaply) from McMaster-Carr online. I have lure cases full of button, cap and flat-head screws in all different lenghts, as well as 4-40 locknuts and washers. Been buying for them for ages... definitely a candy store for nerds like us.

I'm still working on a source for 4-40 steel ball studs, and the odd greenish anodized aluminum 8-32 flat heads in bulk that Associated has sold forever.

nice quality stainless screws. hex heads on all of them, even the biggie ones that attach the bulkheads and whatnot. definitely worth 20 bucks a set!!

What about black 8-32s in either 0.375 or 0.5 lengths? Anyone have any suggestions?

scroll down a bit on the page. they're not phillips though, they have a 3/32 allen head.

Thanks Scr8p, those are a definite need to have. But I have been looking for black Phillips as replacements for the old Losi vehicles..... all the new Losi screws are silver/chrome.

Hey, another question. Does RD still have kits in stock? You close that place? I really want the old Ascot/Big Boys Toys, but they seem to be anxious to business with people as Van's Invent does.

Mcmaster Carr has black-oxide 18-8 stainless 8-32s in both 3/8 and 1/2

i had a feeling you were looking for screws for a losi.

i live about a 30-45 min from rd enterprise. i have never dealt with him at all though. i'm hoping to build up one of his fake down tube sprinters, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

nice quality, but the 8-32's dont fit flush on the bottom of the chassis.

so like, dont buy these.

Okay I was just gonna ask about that. The last time I was in the US (2003) I bought different length 8-32 counter sunk stainless steel screws at home depot. they are just for the regular straight screwdrivers. Anyway I had the same experience, that the counter sinking of the screws does not fit the sunk holes in the RC10 chassis. So what kind of screws does AE use? Are they like 8-32 with a non standard counter sunk head?
