My prediction is that 9/10 people that buy them from there will quickly be overwhelmed with the maintenance and frustrated with retailers for lack of help. Then they will end up on ebay for everyone to buy on the cheap. I don't see it helping the hobby in a big way. On the other hand, at least Traxxas is trying new avenues. Most companies seem to be fairly content to just sit back and hope the hobby breaks out. I remember bashing Traxxas back in the day for selling RTRs when all that was around were kits. I thought that would ruin the hobby, but I would say it caused an explosion. That being said, I hate the fact that buying a "kit" of any kind is getting harder and harder...

I don't think people who shop at Pepboys know about eBay....or computers.....or really cars for that matter....It's the Aldi's of
autoparts

Good point.

I wonder how many Traxxas vehicles are rotting in people's basements? Not dogging Traxxas, just making a point about the market. A guy at work saw me looking at something r/c related and said "I have a Traxxas T-Maxx somewhere at my house. Bought it and only ran it a couple of times." I can see a lot of impulse buying.

I've got a junker I'll sell ya! Damn thing was crap out of the box and died a piece of crap. No amount of hop-ups, new engines, or anything else would make it run. Out of the two engines and 5 gallons of fuel put through it, only 2 or 3 tanks provided any source of enjoyment. And there was no reason for these few tanks to be any different than the many many before and after where the truck wouldn't run for beans. I'd fight it to get it to run, finally get a good tank, stop for a refill and it wouldn't run for beans again.

Come on, you know you want a first gen T-Maxx! Just think, you can spiffy it up and show it off to all your friends. You'll be the envy of the neighborhood. Kids from miles around will come to watch you run it. If you build it, they will come.

That looks lonely, I think it needs a sibling. Better yet, you could toss all the guts off mine and graft it onto the back of yours and make a 6x6! How cool would THAT be? You should do it!! You know you want to!! Wifey doesn't have to know. Come on, come on, come on, you know you want to.

I sold this long ago. I would buy on RC Universe, and sell for 2-3x the price on eBay....just got tired of that angle....some of the stuff took ALOT of work to get right

It's in excellent condition, if you look past all the dirt, grease, grime, fried engine, torqued body, leaking shocks, worn out bones, bent hinge pins, chrome chipping off wheels, and deep scrapes and gouges on the skid plates.

Oh....I have an RC10 project like that already....

At least it was cheap....
Maybe that's WHY it was cheap....Maybe I should go Visit Al and see what a nice RC10 looks like...
