Looks like it has the exact same trouble spot as Jay's protech replicas
Is there enough space for the motor to go und the sidepods?

That's a good question Erik. I'll try to get an answer to that. I personally find the body rubbing to much on the chassis sides and I don't think I'll be able to use the undercover to protect the nice carbon chassis. I think a new body/undercover (ZM-104) or a repro would be better... . Meanwhile, I keep looking for another less angular body that would fit.

On a more personal side, congrats for the little girl, thumbs up!

thanks!

If I succeed in fitting another body I'll put the one I have with the bellypan in the BST section.
They are in pretty good state with a simple paintscheme.

Did you ever put up pics of yours manneke? I didn't know you had ventured so close to contemporary

You're gonna be a super Janneke father, I have no doubt about that. Have you found a new job? I know s.o who left Toyota Belgium not so long ago (beginning of march). She worked as a PhD in Physics and she might still have some connections there. PM me if you are interested to meet her.

I think there is a pic of our manneken in the intro section, he's heading to his 3rd year... time flies!

VoilĂ , I really like Yokomo stuffs. I don't have much though, neither do I look to have more... might be the reason? The MX-4 is a really nice car. I did not intend to get it, she was left lonely with not interest on a board. I saved her from going straight to eBay... . We are having a great time refreshing/polishing the car mini me and me. There isn't much to do, just some cleaning. It had a battery pack or two maximum though it.

Anyway, have a look guys. I think I need to cut the body to get a precise opinion. It'll be done after paint. Yeaaaah, I am the ones who cut after painting... .

Thanks! I have a few connections of my own in toyota but maybe will contact you on that later.
The monday after I get back from Japan I have a 2nd round interview for an excllent job coming up. Keep you rfingers crossed for me.

That MX-4 looks tops but you are missing a top deck? Fibrelyte still does that, and the battery deck too.
which shock towers do you have? Mine came 2nd hand also and has the next cars plastic tower instad of the graphite flat.
That's fine, maybe even better, but the difference from front to rear buggs me somehow. (Would never have bothered me 10 years back  )

Sincerely, best luck with your interview Erik.

About the MX-4, I have nearly all the parts. Only the original slipper and spur gear are missing. It was setup with a oneway/direct drive. The top deck is the optional one piece version and shock towers are also made out of carbon fiber. I have seen that strange shock tower mixing for MX-4 on a Japanese blog, I think it was Masami's father blog. May be you can replace it? Do you want to test you cutting skills also? I can scan it too, it is the right time to ask. It isn't back on the car yet.

I'm gonna start a new thread with some pics... leave this thread to body suggestions or repros announcement.

I've got the same slipper-less setup on a yokomo mini I got for spares to the MX-4.
Looking through a local magazine yesterday I had a topview on the b-max-4 chassis. Looks like this body might fit well in length but it also looks quite narrow where the MX-4 goes pretty wide in the back.

The new HPI body may fit as it has a transverse stick pack in the rear.

But both have one major drawback if you plan to take it outside: with the plastic tubs there's no bellypans for these bodies

Wow! I Love the HPI body. Well spotted Erik!

I am going to try to find a part number now. As soon as it is for sale here, I will get one to test.

Let us know how it fits, and if you don't mind; check the nrs for the wheels too.

I'm still looking for a body though. :( That HPI body looks promising! Any update on the fit?

that worked out better for you than for phoenix

I haven't heard anything from manneke lately, but I did play a bit with my baldre and plazma edge bodies from Tamiya on the MX-4 chassis... and both are pretty easy and good looking alternatives. The plazma edge needs a little cutting around the rearshocks but fits the original bellypan excellent.
But the baldre looks better and if it weren't for the interference with the rear stabilizor it would probably be mounted permanently on mine. Unfortunately it does not fit the bellypan so close too though...

A sparrowhawk body should work well also, but the styling is kind of diificult ; love or hate

I think with a heavy chop and drop job it could turn out nasty
