Thanks!

It an old Tamiya Sand Scorcher front end.
The rear set up is a Kyosho Triumph trans, Tamiya axles, & Associated (custom) DS arms.

So how much did this all cost you in the end?

I'm guessing a little over $100 or so was spent between the wheels, tires, body, paint, front bumper, rear arms & axles. The rest was spare parts I've had sitting around for years. I originally planned to build it for nearly nothing, but plans quickly changed thanks to eBay...

Completely revamping buggy...body has been found, chassis is being reconfigured... I'm happy with preliminary results. :D

Lots of fine tuning to go...

Looking good with the new body! You should paint the lower section on the sides in black: just like in the inspiration picture.

Thanks.

Will do,

Spray can bed-liner spray has a scale undercoating look. It gives a fine textured finish.
(After I fab the side panels to take up the gap.)

It worked great on my Ultima XL chassis.

I'm still fine tuning the body fit..no room for a typical battery pack. I'll have to use a thinner AA based set up and get creative with the electronics.

I just got my repro chrome headlights a little while ago. With a 50 year old toy body, it's a bit of a resto-custom kind of deal and adds to the fun of (re)building it.

Looking good!

Now if you want to build the inspiration picture drop me a line so I can make some room in my back yard

A low cg shorty is barely thicker than an AA battery.
