I’m a sign installer, we took a cabinet down for repairs and upgrades. Things took longer than normal for us to get back out here for the re-installation. This little girl decided to make a home where the cabinet bolts up. I couldn’t just entomb her to her death so I had to fish her out. It was a challenge and possibly hurt her wing in doing so, acted like her wing was hurt and wouldn’t fly. So we found a local habitat and dropped her off.
I was told she is an American Kestrel.

Thanks for looking out for the little guy. I raised an injured Kestrel to health as a kid. They are beautiful birds.

Wow... what a beautiful bird. Never heard of or seen a Kestral before. Says they are the smallest and most widespread of falcons in North America. And here I thought it was some kind of adolescent hawk.

I watched a Kestrel just destroy a quail once in my yard. Frickin' came in at 0.7 Mach, talon gripped it into the dirt and just started squeezing it, started pluckin' feathers and breasted it out under the cherry tree. Amazing circle of life kinda thing. I think they are the fastest bird in some category. Sweet pic!

True story: My wife's dad wanted to surprise us by having doves released at our wedding as we wa came out. The second they let them go, a hawk swooped in and attacked one. Luckily it lived. My brother in law said he saw it perched up there waiting but couldn't find the guy to warn him.

In Florida, we get these in the Summer. In the Winter, it rains these alligators from the trees.

Don't tell them big lizards what a Kestrel is! Or where the sanctuary is at!

Looks like it needs closer inspection. Even inspections need the right tool for the job.
