Well I'm pretty sure I'll never run my re-re once its built, but I still feel the need to replace the bushings with ball races.
Is that a bit 'OCD' or is that standard practice amongst you guys?

I think that OCD is standard practice amongst us...

Well the wife tried to reach out to Tower but no luck. Shipped and should be at my mother in laws on Friday. And I get home (NY) from Afghanistan on Thursday. Thanks a lot Tower. Defeating the whole free shipping purpose! But can't complain, I'm at least getting mine so grateful!!

I have an orig Edinger that is Mint that I bought built with bushings. I for a quick sec thought that it needed bearings. Then I was like... WHY are you thinking that way.. its ORIGINAL and its just going to be displayed

I have a tendency to think this way also so I think it's common amongst us, for sure. As "badhoopty" said, knowing a shelfer has bearings and is ready to run makes it all the more satisfying.
I'm determined to run my re-re (it's one of the main reasons I bought a re-re instead of a used original) even though it'll require a constant battle with the part of me that will inevitably think it's too nice to run once assembled and painted. That said, I was also "determined" to run my re-re Hornet I assembled 3 1/2 years ago yet it sits unused and box-art fresh on the shelf to this day.

Hopefully the guys/gals flogging their re-re gold pans will post some action shots to serve as motivation for me to do the same.

HI!... Well I ordered mine on the 12th and it showed up today the 15th so not to bad. It's currently at the UPS Store across the border in Detroit. Can't go get it till Sat morning though.

That's good though. I ordered two cans of Tamiya PS-19. So it will give them some time to show up as well. This way I'll have everything to build it start to finish.

Mine is coming, I called Tower Yesterday after work and they updated my CC info and my card was charged last night. I am really excited about this but my last few builds have stalled out when it came time to installing electronics because I am still coming up to speed with modern, new-fangled brushless and LiPo things. I am very excited to get one and start building it, eventually. It will probably sit on a shelf and collect dust for a while (I have an NIB Ultima Truck I bought off eBay over a year ago plus some hop ups for it waiting to be built, along with another Clod...another Midnight Pumpkin and 2 SC10's...I buy stuff and never have time to build it...) but I think this may go to the top of the list and get built sooner rather than later...

The anticipation is killing me. Both of my orders got shipped yesterday and out for delivery today. The driver usually comes after 5:00 and it's 4:20 now.

Just got mine built mine to about 80%. Waiting on my bearings to show so still have the gear box to build. I can honestly say it was a lot of fun! I haven't been able to build something new other than Tamiya since I was a kid.

Avid doesn't have all the sizes with rubber seals. Boca does, about $32 for the Green Seal set. I picked up
these because they have the larger out drive support bearings as well.
