I got my towers in (Thank you M_VICE) and they are awesome. I have no idea what they are made of. maybe Miguel will chime in for us. He makes some really nice parts by hand.

Counter sunk the screws and got them mounted. I am going to be machining some parts for the car in the next few days to get the shocks ready to mount.

I am not far from getting this car complete, Just got to wait a bit longer until I can gather the rest of the parts. My prediction is the car gets finished around the middle of June.

This is looking awesome Jake, I guess the front of the body fits well but you will probable have to trim the ears of the rear of the body when you mount the shocks.
The inner 2 holes at the rear are the standard position form the RPM world’s rear tower and I added the other 2 to try different shock angles. It will use the standard rear RC10 shocks with 2 spacer inside and in the front it will use the 10T front shock but with 2 spacers inside to lower the height of the towers but still have max arm travel without affecting steering.
These towers are made from G-10/FR4 Garolite (fiberglass) with plans to make some out of CF later on.
Can’t wait to see it all together man, great work.

I got some more work done on the car. I hated the way a nut and washers had to be used on the shock towers to hold the 4-40 screw in place so the shock could be mounted. I decided to turn a mount out of 6061 aluminum that would space the shock away from the tower and still lock the 4-40 screw in place for the nylon nut.

I made four of these and they work perfectly. I tapped the aluminum mounts 4-40 and they lock the screw down nicely. I prefer the cleaner look rather than having the washer and nut showing on the tower.

This has been a slow build for me but will soon be rounding the corner for the big finish.

I also bought an RB5 that will donate its velvet shock to this car. I may have to change the mounts, we will see. Stay tuned for updates down the road.

I finished the arms this weekend. They have been cut with a CNC mill out of 6/6 nylon. M_Vice designed the arms and provided the drawings for the CNC to be programmed. The arms are rounghly the same length as the Dynotech arms and make the car about the same width as the B4. The arms were white but I dyed them for this specific build. I had to mill the back of the castor blocks down so I could get more range of motion in the arms. The rear hubs are RPM hubs for a 10T.

I still need to get some bearings and CVDs for the rear of the car. I got a set of Kyosho Velvet shocks for the car but still need to do some more work before they are ready to mount on the car. I need to limit the down travel of the rear shocks and may need to buy some longer shafts for the front shocks. I hope to order the final parts for the car sometime this week.

The car is looking good Jake. I think all the custom parts came together very well. Can’t wait to see it finish and to start building mine.

Wow! What a stunning build!

I love all those one-off parts & tweeks... especially those arms Little touches like the coutersinking of the screws really ties this custom build together, it really is going to be something special when its done.

Its going to be a supreme runner.... but if it was mine I think i'd loath to get it dirty or scuffed/scrached

Thanks for the comments. I see your point about the car being a shelfer but I am building the car for one thing only, racing. I want to put it heads up against the newer stuff and hopefully my driving skill can get me out front. That second part will be the main issue

I did some work onthe rear shocks tonight. The rear shocks from the RB5 were way longer than what I needed and would have caused binding issues when I get the CVDs mounted.

I turned some spacers out of delrin ans placed inside the shocks to limit extension of the shocks. Works perfectly. I also had to tunr some more aluminum shock mounts for the car since the ones for the AE shocks woulw not work.

I had to take a pic of the car with the wheels in place. Almost there, then I can start my gallery photos.
