wow I never thought about trying peroxide on yellowed parts I once let a black dyed tranny spacer sit in peroxide for 2 weeks (I forgot about it) It was in 3% and never saw sunlight but it did turn Brown??? maybe if it sat in the sun those 2 weeks it would of gotten kinda white??? probably not, but you never know

There is NOTHING that will make color-dyed nylon white again, other than buying new white parts. UV-faded and discolored white parts is another story. Glad to see this is working for people. I may have to try it on some of the old RC10 pieces I have left here.

I bought a bottle of peroxide last night and just put some old parts and a 10T arm in a jar. It's sitting in the sun now, and I'll put it back outside for the rest of the weekend. I'll post pics.

the first parts i started with after about 52 hours in a 3% solution using uv lights. as you can tell it does not make the parts look new but it does make a big difference. also note that all the parts were thoroughly cleaned before any part made it in the peroxide bath. so the dark parts are what the parts look like after they are cleaned and before the peroxide. and the parts were the exact same shade before the peroxide.

now i wont be tearing down all my cars to do this but i will continue to play around with using the peroxide for a while.

Wow that looks good. I wonder if you added some bleach white or simple green to the peroxide would help or hurt?

the cleaner i cleaned the parts with before i started was lysol bathroom and kitchen cleaner. i have used simple green and i tried the lysol one day when there was no simple green in the house. since then i haven't looked back.

i have also tried bleaching parts with bleach. it did not make the parts any whiter than they already were after cleaning.

i wouldn't bother with the bleach. but if anyone does try it just think about what bleach would do to your clothing if you has your clothes soaking in it for hours. now hydrogen peroxide on the other hand is drinkable. so other than short exposure to a harsh chemical i like using stuff a bit safer.

simple green has dye in it to give it the green color. when trying to bleach something i feel its best done with no dye in the mix. that's just a personal preference though and i am basing it purely on my opinion.

Please don't mix bleach and peroxide.

My best result which was not that good was with Ajax. The parts are clean but they could be whiter. The Ajax has bleach in it and its slightly abrasive. Lots of time with a toothbrush and it made my parts as clean as I could have gotten them. This is my ebay rescue car. Its up for sale on ebay right now if anyone is interested. Its not hard to find.

so i plan to use a wide flat pan with a piece of mirrow in the bottom i think the uv would be cut down by the sides of the vessel like a jam jar so with a wide pan and reflective surface in the bottom it would maximize the results
plus i ordered some 30 % hydrogen peroxide $22 for 500 mL from my local pharmacy should be here middle of next week

I agree...CONFIRMED! Here are a pair of 10T arms I used for comparison. The whiter one has been soaking in 3% peroxide in the sun for a total of about 14 hrs. Both were cleaned with Dawn Power Dissolver and soap and water before the treatment.

I'm going to let them sit in the peroxide, then put them out in the sun for a few more days if it ever stops raining.

LTO... pick up some pipe cleaners from the craft department of walmart or anywhere else that may carry them. i have found that they were great with getting that black crap outta them holes. the would help reduce the grayish look the ends have.

i also have a few small shock collars and spring cups now soaking in some 35% under the uv light. time will tell.

tobacco stores usually have "actual" pipe cleaners, for cleaning pipes.. usually with some different firmnesses or with plastic cleaning bits in them.. works better than craft ones usually as they are a little more abrasive..

i have bought 99cent store ones also and work well, the craft ones
