The Mirage ended up on the Traxxas car, I have a 2nd one sitting on the shelf not painted. I ended up using the Protech I for both AE buggies, same body, just swapped back and forth as needed....for now. I am sure a couple new Protechs are in order here after I get some laps on the cars.

So raced in the no-timing/no-boost 17.5 "sportsman" class. Qualified for the A main, but after 16 hours, there was still another hour to go before my main (and it was 9:30 pm) so I didnt race the main. I was about 18 seconds off the TQ. I ran the TCP/TRX3 in the first round (A main run), then the RC10 CE in the second heat (back into the A main, was bumped out). Great blue groove track that was fun to race on. Only damage on the day was on the TCP, I broke one ball cup @ 6 in the morning (was very cold & old traxxas white plastic).
Really great pitting just down the table from Gerd Strenge (I dont think I spelled that right), Hupo Hongl (sp?) and Jorn Neuman. Those Durange Prototype 2wd buggies are works of art. Watching those guys on the track was amazing. Never seen a 4wd buggy lift the rear tires off the ground during braking (same with their 4wd SC trucks). Amazing watching that much power and speed look so effortless. There were many other top name drivers out there also, but it was easy to see the skill level.

.89 front & 1.18 rear (B4 shocks). Over 280 entries, it was crazy.

do you remember what the durango guys were using for speedos, motors, and batteries? because they looked fast as hell.

speed passion was all over the bodies, I didnt get deep into the ointment, but yes, those guys were definitely over powered.

over powered is understatement. the sc trucks were ridiculous as well.
did you see any good close ups of the 2wd prototypes?

yes, work of art, B4 clone in many ways, but still a work of art.
the 4wd & 4wd SC were awesome to watch...they would lift the rear tires off the ground during braking.

I saw that in the video.
To me, the braking was more eye-opening than the flat out speed. It was like dropping an anchor.

Sorry to prolong off-topic chat in JK's paint thread, but as a racer he'll understand where I'm coming from. I CANNOT integrate braking into my racing.

I wish I could because the fastest guys do, but my brain just doesn't calculate that many different controls. The best I can do is set my drag brake. Watching the really good drivers manipulate jumps and corners w/o even thinking about it just amazes me. I can drive decent, but I just can't work all those variables in at the same time.
