I wonder if they would be long enough for what I need. Does anyone have some that they could measure the length on?

tower says rpm long shank ends are 1", normal is 3/4".

I looked at the link but it didn't state the length. I am always leery of tower's measurements. One time I bought some 3" duratrash dampers and they turned out to only be 63mm.

Right. Mixing and matching parts is a pain. I finally broke down and purchased a digital caliper set for making precise measurements. Hopefully, this will keep me from purchasing too many things that are too short, too thick, too small, etc.

the long rpm ball cups have a total length of 1". the distance from the end of the shank to the center of the ball stud hole is 7/8". that's the same as a dubro heim end.

the short ones are 3/4" total length. the distance from the end of the shank to the center of the ball stud hole is 5/8".

also, the short rpm ones are longer than stock associated ball cups by an 1/8", total length. they're only a 1/2" from the end of the shank to the center of the ball stud hole.

I picked up some RPM heavy duty links and some of the long shank links today at the hobby shop. All they had was blue on the long shank so I decided to do some experimenting.

Note to self.

1. Blue color rpm plastic will dye to black very easily

2. A pot filled with black dye will boil over all over the stove the minute you turn your back. Consequently, wife will be pissed

3. Wife does not like her Calphlon pots used for dyeing RC parts. Consequently, wife gets really pissed.

LOL shodog, but how about the RPM links? The RPM links were still awesome enough to right the wrong doing of the dye mess?

Didn't really get a chance over the weekend to work on this ride due to mother's day obligations. You have to do what to takes to ensure domestic tranquility.

I got most of the chassis together. I have to say this has been ones of my most tedious builds. Sourcing all of the special parts has been a chore. here it is in its current state of build





A couple of things I know I already want to change are the tires. I don't really like the fat meats in the front. Is there anything more low profile and maybe narrower?

nice build shodog! different from those already presented here I would use red dyed shock clamps instead of those BLING BLING, just to make it more uniform, but that is just my opinion... some TQ spiked front tires would be great or maybe some Stagger rib from Schumacher or Losi... keep us posted

no. polish the bodies and caps and then paint the collars and caps red leaving the bodies aluminum...

Thats kinda what I had in mind. I put those dampers on just because I had new ones. I would hate to strip those but I think I do have other used ones I could hook up.
