But is that thing street legal?
the one in the pic, probably not. but there are alot that are built very similar to a 60's gasser, and are street legal.

I absolutely love old hot rods, rat rods and the like. Awesome. I'd love to have a bad arse old school rod. Well, if I didn't live in NYC that is.
One thing about the newer cars, there's just something about going around a corner and standing on the pedal.

scr8p wrote:going fast in newer cars does nothing for me. i have a hard time feeling the sensation of speed. they're just too smooth. now yanking the front wheels off the ground all 4 gears in my dad's 55 chevy, much more fun.

i will not lie. that does sound fun.
but its also a kick in the pants to take a roadtrip from chicago to texas and back, taking blue highways with the ac cranked and the t-tops off, averaging like 80mph at like 2300rpm, getting 27mpg, and not breaking anything.
i remember years and years ago there was a yellow 55 chevy on the cover of either car craft or hot rod doing a HUGE burnout, its just a vague memory now but it was one of the neatest cars i had ever seen. just a real simple, stripped down badass street car. i think it had brodix heads and a ram air system like the old ford thunderbolt.

i think my dad has that issue out in his garage, but it's a 57 on the cover. huge burnout and brodix heads. it also has an injection setup, similar to a hilborn. tilt nose, straight axle, and all the other bells and whistles.

naw this one had a hood and and a carb and was definitely a 55. total simple stripped down car but really nice. i'm pretty sure it was all original besides silver spray painted fiberglass bumpers.
i bet theres been more than a few yellow tri-fives doing burnouts on the cover of car magazines.
i still might have it, but it would be buried somewhere. if there was one mag i would keep it would be that one i liked the car so much.

oh, i'm sure there was.
here's my dad's 55 when it graced the cover of chevy rumble in may of 05. it's been in 4 or 5 mags, but he couldn't believe it made it on the cover of one.

yup.. 201 made. Mine was red/black top and interior.. Was all there. am/fm tilt/wood, power windows, vacuum trunk release. Sold it in 80 for 5 times what I bopught it for and was promptly taken apart and
never put back together. Shame cause its a $300-500k car restored.. heres pics of it taken in mid 70's..
